Spanish is probably the closest of the three to the English language. You will find many words that have come from the same roots. You might have a little trouble with the tenses at first, but you will find that the structure is much simpler than English. Once you have Spanish down you will probably be able to catch on to Italian very quick, as well as Latin.

It's like this:
English = the easiest language in the world
Spanish = Italian = easier than most of languages
French = a bit harder, but many words are similar to English
German = one of the hardest languages to learn
Dutch = the hardest language on the planet

For a person who speaks English (as his maternal language), German is easier. But for those who speak a 'lingua Latina' (Portuguese, French, Romanians), the related Spanish or Italian are easier.
