Every time I start a diet I have such a difficult time. My eating habits seem to spiral out of control and I find myself craving everything. If I do give in to the cravings, I can't stop eating. It's like my brain is telling my body that food may not exist tomorrow so it had better stock up now. How do I overcome this fast or famine response?

You need to change the way you think. Not an easy task, but still it needs to be done. First off keep everything bad for you out of your house.

An remind yourself that you can either feel good for a day or feel good for a few min while you eat, and then feel like crap the rest of the time. Leave yourself notes around the house describing how you felt last time you gave into your craving. Keep it on your refrigerator. Sit down and write down what you will eat every day so you don't spend time looking for your food and being tempted by everything else you see.

Pretend you like eating healthy, as you sit there, eating a healthy meal of some lean meat, veggies and water, pretend you enjoy it. It will help! Write down some of your goals for the next few days weeks months, and have check marks on what was accomplished.

Brake down your goals and convince yourself you will accomplish them. Watch inspiring movies listen to inspiring songs on those hard days.

But over all remember YOU are uncontrolled no matter what your cravings tell you.

Because you call it diet. Diet = limiting, eat sensible healthy food, exercise and the weight will come off.
Good luck.

well, instead of trying not to eat, you should keep to your normal intake. However, what you can do is to eat healthy stuff like fruits and vegetable. Whenever you feel hungry, just pop an apple into your mouth. =)

I'd like to know about that myself. I so cheat on my diet, too. I go overboard on everything. It's so sad. It's like I don't want to lose weight.
