3500 calories is equal to 1 pound. thats why they say you need a difference of 500 calories a day for 1 week to lose 1 pound. and 500 (calories) X 7(days) = 3500 calories or 1 pound.

one pound of body fat is equal to 3500 calories.
so thats how much you have to burn.

3500, but your metabolism will drop if you consume too few calories. Your best bet is to shoot for a 500 calorie per day deficit, beween intake reduction and calorie burn from excercise.

You need to burn 3500 calories but make sure that you are eating atleast 1300 calories/day or your metobolic rate will slow down.
