sure would be nice, but everyone is trying to get their point to stand out more and they feel that they are the bigger person by putting the other one down. when there is no love there is no common ground. nor is there understanding. people find it hard to agree to disagree, because they always have to be right even when wrong. it is like living in a househould of different nations or better yet two queens. it is hard. like rodney king said, "Cant we all just get along" :)

I know I can go one question without putting down the idiot Christians... Aw crap... I guess I can't. ;-)

Honestly... I converse with all types of people in my life, from all ethnic backgrounds and of all religious beliefs and it's only here, on Answers, where I see the most contention between everyone. I think it's the anonymity, quite honestly. It's easy to call someone an ignorant doofus when you can't see their eyes.

I don't put down anybody's beliefs. I put down the religious institutions as such. Not for the beliefs they have (which I disagree about, but which I don't put down), but for the actual behaviour they have shown for the last 2000 years. I respect believers. I hate the churches, just as I hate cancer, though I respect the ill.

People can take their beliefs VERY seriously, and that passion can be misdirected some times as intolerance and abbrasive.

However, I also feel both sides can also read a dissenting view that in no way disparriages their own view, but since it disagrees with them they see it as offensive.

Yahoo Questions to educate and expand the mind? Surely you jest. And no, I don't think it's possible.

I *try* to remember all the truly great people I've met in my life who were of the various religious groups.

It is obvious; no religion (or non-religion) is best, and they all seem quite capable in creating some excellent people.

That is the goal. It may be a long way off in this day and age, but it's coming.

Thanks for remembering it. :-)
