I don't know about Islam added anything or not to the world, but on the name of Islam, many muslims are killing innocent people including females, children and Old people throughout the world, may be in US, UK or Russia. Also suicide bombings reflects the misuse of Islam teachings.

one example:
Islam asks to punish the criminal i.e a raper by throwing stones until he dies. if this was practiced then there would have been a big decrease in rape crimes. There would not have been such a lot of victims, griefs, pain, suicides and sexually transmitted diseases. A person would think a thousand time before raping or having illegal sex The same applies to robbing you would not like to have your hands cut off ..right?!! so you will not robe, or kill or do any such crimes. So this punishments sent by God are only the right one and justice and blessing for the human.
But since men created their own punishments then there was no justice some were favored due to positions, color , etc. there are no such punishments in the world and you see the results, you suffer. You gave a great sympathy to the criminal and the rate of crimes has increase enormously in the world. The victims do not get justice or the family of the victims take revenge which leads to a large circle of crimes.
This is only one example, if you open your eyes you will find that Islam has only added useful things to your world. It never added anything against humans well being.

The cultures of the various countries with Islamic majorities have added as much as any other culture.......... but Islam.....I'm not sure; the various muslim countries seem to vary drastically in culture and their various cultural contributions, so I'm not sure Islam is the defining factor of these various people's cultural 'shop fronts'.
You can't bunch Moroccans, Egyptians, Turks, Uzbeks, Pakistanis, Bangladeshis, Malaysians, Indonesians etc together under the brand of Islam without dismissing the really interesting bits of their respective cultures - whenever I go anywhere, I am invariably enamoured with the people of the country I meet (travel broadens the mind, I guess), and find fascinating aspects of their respective cultures; Even the US, with it's melting pot culture is fascinating, never mind somewhere like Turkey or any of the other countries that have only exported people and remain culturally untarnished by mass immigration to their countries.
Tracy R, what are you on about, Mohammed lived 600 years after Jesus - did he have a time machine or something?

Well, despite what you may have heard some of the teachings of the Koran include these gems, paraphrased for your enjoyment:
- The 3 religions based on the Old Testament are one in the same with a different spin on them. Be kind and tolerant to them and consider them your brothers. (These are Judaism, Christianity and Islam)
- No one but God can truly judge anyone. Don't be judgmental you don't have the whole story.
And my personal favourite
- God gave you a brain for a reason. Use it.
The problem with Religion is generally not the teachings themselves but people whose intentions are to manipulate them for their own purposes, power being the main one. What better way of controlling people than saying "Tis the word of the Lord!"?

i do no longer likely do study on Muslim charities, via fact i do no longer would desire to establish issues to have self belief that somebody from a faith could be stable. in addition to, different than the middle East, maximum muslim countries are those in choose of help, they have not got the money to do charity on a international point. you're able to watch Al-Jazeera, you will get fairly strategies on the Islamic international there. They reported on a Muslim help employer as quickly as, which BBC and CNN all refused to broadcast. i gives you you an occasion of a muslim state however. I stay in one, the place there is a few 2% minority of Christians, Hindus, Jains, Buddhists, and different religions. each little thing from Eid to Buddha Purnima gets a countrywide holiday right here, and the form, aids, healthcare, taxes, is all equivalent for each guy or woman. certainly no bias. of direction, fundies emerge now and then, yet its no longer only from the Muslim ingredient, and the administrative.continually manages to preserve it. Edit: if your going to forget approximately approximately posiitive comments only via fact there are no components or hyperlinks presented, in line with probability you're able to do your individual study, fairly of asking people on an solutions communicate board.

YOU BET!!!!
Have you ever wondered what happened to the wisdome of the Ancient world when Europe went into the Dark Ages? Think about it... no science of any form was allowed. No mention of any form of worship, other than Christian.
All accumulated knowledge was kept for you & me by the Madrasas (sp?), the schools of Islam. Were it not for them, we would know nothing of the Greeks (who invented Geometry?), the Ancient Egyptions, or anything other than what is written in The Bible. We owe them an debt that can never be repaid.
Having been thru our own Dark Age, we owe them understanding as they struggle to stay out of theirs. A few fundamentalist fanatics suceeded in taking us down that path. We can only hope that the same type of fanatics are not successful in taking them into a Dark Age. the bit difference is that the technology now exhists for them to take us with them. That's why we have to win in Iraq/Afganistan. If we don't.... we just might all go down!

It's given Muslims a moral basis for their behaviour. Problems only occur in extremism, but that could happen in any religion. It's just that Islam has got all the attention at the moment; I think the same things could be argued for all religions. All religions have caused wars and violence.

Every religion is pious and sacred. It has to offer a lot in terms of belief and devotion. It aims at refining people into good human beings. Islam has contributed too. Misdeeds of some individuals in the name of religion, tarnish the image.

... also, they kept knowledge alive during the Dark Ages, and then made it avaliable after the Moors conquered Spain. As this information trickled throughout Europe, it sparked the Renaissance. So, in a way, I guess you could say that we owe Western civilization to them.
On the other hand... once, during an interview with a newspaper reporter, Mahatma Ghandi was asked: "What do you think of Western civilization?" He replied, "I think it would be a good idea."
