For several reasons. One, to encourage "faith", which is really believing something that you have no proof of, which it accomplishes well by mystifying the readers and encouraging them to think they cannot possibly understand it, because it is from "God" and they are, after all, only lowly humans.
Two, to make it sound more like it's from some supernatural omniscient being, and less like it was written in the dark ages by fallible man.
Three, because life is hard to understand, and religion attempts to explain life.

What's so hard about it? Islam is so simple:
1. Believe in none but The One God and that Muhammad (peace be upon him) is God's Messenger
2. Offer prayers 5 times a day, one time.
3. Fast during the month of Ramadan.
4. Give charity to the poor.
5. Make the pilgrimage to Mecca at least one in your lifetime if you can afford to do so.

Because most people read one sentence in the bible.ins-ted of reading the whole chapter .The bible is set up like a book.you have to read one chapter or one story at a time.This is how you read it to understand it,and then when you put all the stories together and meditate on life and the book you understand revelations.the last book in the bible how much are you willing to do to save a soul.your soul then others.

Because it is just that Religion,God sent his Son here to die for us, and to follow him, we go to Church because mom & dad did and took me or just to say i am Christian because i show up i do my part. If everyone would stop worring about religion and what he said and read the Bible for your self. Then God will show you his will,his way,his heart.When you ask God to let you love with his love,see with his eyes,hear with his ear's,speak with his voice,and you show compassion for all man kind and when you have that kind of relationship with him. Then my Friend nothing will be hard about it. People have made religion more complicated than it really is. It just means a way to reawaken our true love for the Eternal and Supreme God.

What's so hard to understand? Love yourself and help others to do the same by acts of charity. Forgive people when they fail you, same as how you hope they forgive you when you screw up. Where's the rocket science in that?

Because if it was simple I feel that most people would reject it. The more complicated a religion is, the more it can be twisted to fit our own selfish needs.

religion is supposed to be difficult. Easy to accept a bunch of stories, difficult to understand them.
And even more difficult to understand why man invented these stories.

religion is not hard to understand it's the belief, ideas and understanding of their own member is what hard to understand.
I'm a Christian my own belief,ideas and understanding sometimes gets me into a heated debate from other christian friends.

Thats a matter of opinion, what i dont get is God, i know the basic principles but i cant understand HIm, Hes too complex
