My cousin is in glasgow. is it common to have a mobile operator to provide fixed line services? as in, it is mobile line but its tied down to a physical phone? according to my telco in malaysia, they said this is a mobile number, thus charging me higher..eventhough i see that the phone is a landline phone. eg. the corded phone.

In some country No. But maybe where your cousin is, they need a mobile operator service provider. Maybe she's using a prepaid card when she calls you? My sister who is in LA buys a prepaid card to call overseas and when she calls my parents, the one that registers on my parents phone is a mobile number. I dont know if this is legal though. Did you understand what i am saying?
