You shouldn't. It's against the law and the people who put alot of hard work into the movie and recieve nothing for it. You should just buy an original copy, or even rent it.
But I guess it's ok to burn one of your own DVD's as a backup, and then I advise you to do what the others are saying about that google (I hate google) thing.

I am assuming that you wish to make a copy of a DVD that you own for archival purposes, so that if your DVD gets lost or damaged, you will still be able to view the movie. As far as I know, making a copy for such a purpose is allowed under "fair use" rules.
There are several programs that will allow you to make copies of DVDs. The best one I am aware of is Slysoft's AnyDVD, which also has other nice functions, like allowing you to play DVDs from any region, regardless of your location.
http://www.slysoft.com/en/anydvd.html
Once you purchase, download, and install AnyDVD, you can use any DVD burning software to make a copy of the DVD disc. Most PCs that come with DVD-RWs come with such software. Probably the two most popular are:
Roxio Easy CD & DVD Creator:
http://www.roxio.com/enu/store/cddvdburning.html
Nero Burning ROM:
http://ww2.nero.com/nero7/enu/Products.html
If you don't have any such CD/DVD burning software, Slysoft makes products to do that also.

you're going to have to google "dvd shrink". find a site that hosts the program and you should be good to go. though i'm not sure if nero is required with dvd shrink. but it should bypass any of copyright stuff.
you should only do this if you have the original dvd otherwise its illegal.

Google DVD Shrink. (Disclaimer: I only advocate using this software to rip backups of DVDs you already own, not make copies of rented or borrowed DVDs. Follow the law and all that jazz.)
;-)
By the way, making backups of your own discs is perfectly leagal, which is why DVD Shrink goes past protected DVDs because the creators think that they violate your rights if you own the disc (which they do).
