I agree with the other writers. You are sabotaging your metabolism by only eating once per day. Every time you eat something, you are burning calories (it takes energy to digest the food). In addition, you are providing energy to your body.
Eating once a day stifles that energy production and the body goes into "starvation" mode, so to speak, where it hangs on to body fat in order to protect itself.
Here are my recommendations:
1) Eat 6 smaller / smallish meals a day. 250 - 350 calories apiece.
2) Start getting active. Hit the treadmill, start walking, lift weights, take a dance class. Anything that makes you break a sweat. This will help boost your metabolism, build muscle, and incinerate calories.
3) Educate yourself: read some health related books / magazines. Body for Life, Shape or Fitness Magazine. Muscle and Fitness Hers is also good (but a bit hard core). Women's Health is also good.
4)I like to use a website such as http://www.fitday.com to monitor my calories. Honestly measure your food / activities and let fitday do the work. Try to come up with a deficit of 250 - 500 calories a day for steady results. Work on portion control, which to me is a key component of lifetime weight management.
5) Don't expect over night results. You didn't become heavy overnight, so don't expect to be fit and trim overnight either.
6) Don't get overly hung up over the numbers on your scale -- especially if you start working out. Some of the gains you make will be muscle, which will add a bit of weight. But let's face it, muscle is sexier than flab.
Feel free to drop me a line if you need more help, etc.
Good luck.

Eating one meal a day will not help you lose weight! You should eat 3 meals a day and 2 snacks. These meals should not be anything big but enough to full you up. Do not over eat at meal times. Also when you eat dinner make sure you don't eat dinner too late. I always make sure i eat dinner before 7PM and nothing else after that! Your meals and snacks should also be healthy foods. Try exercising too. Diets do not work. Exercise and you will see a difference in your body in no time! Yoga is a great exercise and it is fun.

Hi
Try this simple plan it worked for me so here goes,
If you are serious about losing weight, the calories in the food you eat should be less than the energy you use. You will have to increase your metabolic rate now, and plan your diet carefully.
Formulate your own weight loss plan and you will lose weight faster. More details available at http://tinyurl.com/m7ckx
Good luck

the problem is that you eat one meal a day! you need to eat several small meals a day. right now your body is spending most of it's day in starvation mode because you're not feeding it. If you eat more regularly, you should begin to lose weight.

you surely cannot eat one meal a day.. it will screw up your system and also my give you ulcers or acidity... have three meals a day but count the calories you are taking in and compare it with the calories you are burning.. if you take in more than you burn then you will not loose weight... also since you are starving yourself the whole day and still doing your normal routine or working out then your body goes into shock and stores the fat instead of burning since it doesnt know when it is going to get regular diet... so train yourself to excersice and eat healthy.... it will not only give you your desired results but also make your spirits sore...

whole grains, grapes, and walnuts are good for your metabolism, water aerobics at the YMCA, and maybe taking up a dance class would help.
