how do you feel about this fact?

"Several studies have investigated the relationship between intelligence and the degree of religious belief (excluding humanism), with most showing that intelligence averages decrease significantly with the "importance of religion" an IQ testee rates as apt. Many studies chiefly show the same results (despite time of study, location, etc.)."

there you have it. science says that the more religious you are, the dumber you are. (on average)

of course there's some degree of generality involved in the statistic, but it's a bona fide scientific fact. you can't argue with that.

Atheists should be careful with their arrogance because it is indicative of an inferior mentality. You are arrogant out of self-preservation which self-preservation is only employed when one feels threatened by someone or something. That is also indicative of a lack of self-confidence because you feel the need to attack others out of some perceived need to your preserve yourselves. You are overcompensating for the insecurity you have in your faith (Atheism) and yourselves, this is why you feel the need to lash out at others, who are different in thought from you, in such an assaultive fashion. You feel the need to hurt others because you feel inferior to them in some way and to bring them down to your level, so to speak, you lash out at them.

This "lashing out/ overcompensation" can be symptomatic of an inferiority/ superiority complex.

What can be expected of Atheistic Science ? You teach Evolution in schools and colleges without any proof of any creature Evolving... or make up a piltzdown man and then revise all the books...Your Science is great ...

You think that by just some Match the following, you can test Intelligence of a person ...
But there are 2 kinds of Intelligence ...This your science will not teach you ... Cunning and wise ....
Non Religious people are much more Cunning like a Fox and Religious people are more wise.. This calculation Science will not give...

Well Religion says much worse about Atheists ...
Science is calling us Stupid ...
But Religion calls Atheist as no more than Animals

Well, I'm an unbeliever, so I should perhaps be flattered, but instead I have to say that taking pride in something like this isn't really an indication of intelligence. You made a point about these results being valid "in average". Is it perhaps that you're the exception to the rule? Or are you a believer trying to make unbelievers look stupid? No, you aren't, since according to this alleged study, believers are dumb... Or... Wait a minute... I'm confused... Gee, I guess that makes me a believer? Or an unbeliever? What were the results, again? What's my name? Where am I? What's an IQ? What's a religion? What's god? I want my mummy!!!!

I'm from the Catholic religion, and before anyone is cannonized as a saint, several miracles must occur as a result of prayers said to said saint.Several doctors and scientists are consulted before that person becomes a recognized "saint". If no logical medical, scientific, physical etc. reason is found for this miracle, then the person becomes recognized as a true "saint". These doctors and scientists are from different faith backgrounds, including athiests. I don't see any reason to be calling a Harvard or Yale scientist "dumber than average".

Okay, for the hell of it...

Everything causes cancer. Bake in the sun and you get cancer. Drink soya milk and you get cancer. Play with your dog and you get cancer.

Everyone thinks that just because a sentence or a paragraph starts out with 'Studies suggest....,' it can't be refuted. What a stupid point-of-view.

I think the study's stupid. I bet they can find just as many non-religious people with lesser IQs.

Everyone has the potential to be stupid. Just because you're in a religion or a cult or a freak show, it doesn't necessarily mean you're racking on the stupidity points. Geez. Get real.

I read a study that proved that people that believe everything they read in studies to be fact are dumber. (on average)

of course there's some degree of generality involved in the unposted statistic, but its a bona fide scientific fact that you can't argue with because I didnt' post it.

- you moron.

And you call religious people stupid?

Obviously you have not realize that there are two belief systems: revelation and science. Simply express, God reveals and man observes.

You have confused the two belief system by using techniques from science in the area of belief. In other words, your discourse will not stand in either belief system. There are no scientific facts, bona fide or not.

I will keep my argument simple. Let's talk about does God exists not. Science has no way of dealing with this question since science ultimately deals with facts (a observation by men (note plural) independent of location. There are no scientific facts regarding God since facts about God can not be verified by the scientific method.

What about the belief side. Oddly enough there is no proof about the existence of God, it is assumed.

I have tried to keep this simple so that you would understand that you can not apply techniques from one belief system to another. But since you are so brilliant, you must have over look the obvious.

As for being stupid: my degrees are from Berkeley, Stanford and Harvard. I must have been very stupid to gain admissions. Most of the time I just prefer to be called J, but in your case, you can address me as Dr. J. D.D.

I have just 2 comments for you.

1 - why are anti-religious people so uncomfortable around religious people? is it because that deep fown, they know that they are wrong?

2 - In which scientific journal was this study published? Without providing any references to this, you are making up information. By the way, bu scientific journal, I do not mean the comic books you usually read, but a legitimate, mainstream academic publication that deals with scientific issues.

No such thing as scientific facts hon....don't exist. You have theories but until you go out and review every religious person you don't have a true fact, just a statistic (hate to tell you this but most of my professors who are published are christians) I am not so dont think I am defending that. Galleleo (SP) was almost a fanatic and The father of genetics was a monk!!! Do some more research!!!

Yeah they were all pretty dumb. At least compared to the staggering intelligence of the YA Atheist Troll Brigade.

I can argue with that all night! But, I concede I wont convince you. It will take one humanity thing to happen to you in negative manner for you to see the light. Or, you might be the type of person who doesn't need anyone around you and can do it all alone! Good luck man!
