It depends on what type of guy he is, and what the situation is. If he really likes you, but thinks that a romantic relationship could not work for whatever reason, he may just act like he wants to be friends with you.
But... many guys would just ignore you or approach you. Only you can know the answer to this question, because only you know the man in question. You need to find the courage to face up to the answer you know to be true and deal with it.
