James McGinley?

Question

I realize I have posted this before, but I have new information that might help. He was originally from the Dublin, Ireland, area. He was a stowaway along with (we think) his wife. They were caught and worked as cooks on the ship. This was sometime in the late 1800s, approx. 1881. He had a son named Dennis D., among others. He is known to have been in Tennessee and Mississippi. He was almost drafted into WW1. Any information is appreciated.

I am sorry I must have the wrong year for the immigration. I am going off of what my Grandpa told me, it was his Grandfather. I do know he was drafted close to the end of WW1 so he didn't end up having time to go.

I tried to do a search for James McGinley but there are just too many possibilities. (Ancestral File - 4; Census/1880 US Census - 21; Census/1881 Canadian Census - 3; IGI/British Isles -18) You may want to search it here. (www.familysearch.org) In looking into the family members, you will find a few "Dennis or Denis" names listed as a son to James McGinley.
More information (such as his parents names or his wife's name) would help to illiminate some of the listings.

I found 2 Dennis McGinleys in the 1900 census with father = James:

(name, father & mother's names, where they were in 1900, Dennis's birth year)

Birth date, marriage date, death date help.
Birth place, marriage place, death place help.
Wife's name (maiden if possible) helps.
Children help.
BMD date and place for wife and kids helps.

That he was drafted helps, if someone has access to WWI draft cards.

If he was married in 1881, by 1917, James McGinley would have been over 54 years old, and not likely to be drafted. I think you need better information.

you may try fan mailing him yet those like fairly get purple. a good number of folk do this and hes of course no longer likely to have the time. plus whats the possibility that hes going to ascertain Yours?
