i have a couple photographs of my grandmother that were taken at gimbel's department store in nyc quite a long time ago... the photos are not in the best of shape these days.

at the bottom of the photos there are identification numbers for the negatives. and on the backs of the photos it says that the negatives were kept on file at gimbel's.

is there any way to find those negatives now that gimbel's does not exist? or are they gone forever...

Well it's a long shot. But Gimbles was bought out by Macys. You might try contacting their headquarters. Just a thought.
