I need a program that can add animated text to photos and such. For instance, the avatars and banners that everyone but me knows how to make. And if you know of one, where could I find it?

But if you are unaware of the know hows of these GIF animator is a simple choice.

The best program for text animation can only be Swish. Though there are others like flex and flash too, but SWISH is something that gels well with most.

For free? try microsoft gif animator! Animations are done using what is called page flipping, I.E. you creat many different pics of text in different positions and or colors and it saves them in an animated gif format!
