OK. first things first.

Make a copy of the original and keep it aside so you wont mess up with data.
Now you have the copy you made. Open that. Select all the data on the sheet using ctrl-C.

Open a text editor, not notepad. Some other better ones like Textpad or ultra-edit or editplus.

Open a file and paste everythin on that.

The data in different cells will copy in line by line manner.
Remove any whitespaces and You have everything in line by line order. Now copy everything again from text editor and open a new excel sheet.
Place cursor on the first cell and paste into the sheet.

Then rock and roll :)

Are the correct numbers - still with the correct names? You can sort the entire spreadsheet. I was doing that and accidentally just sorted the names, so now I have alot of numbers by other ppl's names. The only way to fix that is to call them all and figure out who is who. LOL!
