umm, well yeah im not too sure, but i think people follow the Bible as a guide to life, cause then things wouldnt be sooo clear about what to do, but then again im not sure. I dont believe in the Bible and stuff. Yeah well whats the problem with all these peeps who are flaming atheists, yeah some are pretty much attacking religions others just dont believe in them. Well attacking other religions doesnt make it cowardly or non-cowardly as someone said.
This question doesnt seem like a flamer, just out of curiousity. The way i see it, is that religions are just there to look for a reason why we "live" and stuff. Yeah well other people believe certain stuff and thats fine too.

Good question.
The main reason is because religion is a serious mental illness. It’s the inability to face the reality of life and the finality of death. It affects 85% of the USA and 75% of US victims are Christians. The more pathetic and desperate a persons life, the more likely they are to believe in a god. People with otherwise empty lives, are the strongest believers. It gives them false hope that there’s a higher meaning to their sad and pathetic lives.
Religious people are dangerous. They cannot think for themselves, but instead cling to every word the bible says. Religious fanatics can somehow throw out all scientific evidence and replace it with the word of one book that has no credibility.
My studies and research shows that religious people are not exactly rocket scientists, they tend to be below average intelligence, and also have a tendency to be more violent than non-believers. In some cases, the more violent the person, the more religious they are. I suspect that the vast majority of religious people are well below average intelligence.
It’s a statistical fact that the higher your education, income, and intelligence, the more likely you are not to believe in a god. For every college student that converts to a religious belief system, 17 college students convert to atheist beliefs.
Atheists have an average intelligence of 25 IQ points above their Christian counterparts. It’s no wonder why the USA (75% Christian) is so arrogant, aggressive or violent towards others in this world.

valerie h, nothing can be called a fact if it can not be proved, which the Bible can not. Call it what you want and believe it if you want, but without logical proof based on unquestioned and agreed upon rules of logic and reason, it can actually only call it "belief", regardless of how strongly you believe it. You also can not use anything in the Bible to prove that the Bible is true. If it's any consolation, it also can not not be disproved unless some obvious and undeniable imfromation should be found that would contradict it.

I am one of those Christians who believes the bible. I didn't before I began to study it. I've been a very diligent student of the bible for the last ten years. More new testament than old. That is how I came to believe that it is what it claims to be, by inspiration of God.
What I think is funny is when people say my faith is blind. There is nothing else in life that I've put so much time and thought into as my reading and studying the bible.

Because they can. It is unfortunate that so many would turn to such a bloody and demeaning book, but that is the way it is. The writers and editors did a good job though...they put just enough nuggets of truth in there, mixed with a healthy dose of mystery jargon, and sweeping genralizations to make it the most interesting lie ever told. If the christians would study for themselves, instead of being spoon fed by their pastors and the media they would realize this....as I did. But to make them evil for it.....I can not do. Sheep are not evil.
BTW - we do know why the sky is blue.

I have no idea either. Even though we know all of the stories are not physically possible, have been scientifically proven to be false and have no historical basis at all.... people still blindly follow it.
I think a lot of it comes down to people being scared. People need something to follow, rules to obide by and stories to hide behind. They are too scared to think that maybe this is it, what we do and how we live from day to day life is all that life is. So they cling to these mythical stories from the past.
It is also a great way for them to be able to judge people, be rude and ignorant... and get away with it. A way for biggots to be socially accepted.

Why do non-Christians feel like they must try to rob Christians of something called Faith? Sometimes Science can only prove so much and the rest has to be taken on Faith..... Can you really believe everything on this world has happened out of mere coincidence.

For the same reason Atheists think the Bible is fiction...
Why can't Atheists mind their own business and stay out of the religious section???
