we obviously don't do a lot of things in the old testament anymore like sacraficing our children, not eating certain things, so what about everything else? Why should we follow anything in the bible? And what do we follow or not follow....

Excellent question and points raised. Yes the Bible keeps changing to suit the preachers and followers. It would be a good idea not to following anything in the Bible because the Bible is trash.

The Bible is the biggest load of garbage and codswallop ever written by man, and I’m sure it will go down in history as the greatest load of gobbledygook ever to inflict such traumatic mental and physical damage on humanity, but still today, some people sadly believe the Bible to be true. That’s very sad indeed. Very sad.

When people quote various passages from the Bible, for example ...

Mathew 5:29-30 God encouraged self-mutilation.
Isaiah 13:15-18 God allowed women raped and little children slaughtered.
Genesis 6:11-17 and 7:11-24 God is the greatest mass murder in history.

What happens? Religious people pop up from under every stone with the same old garbage. “That was the old Bible, or we’ve changed the meaning, or wrong interpretation, or we’ve changed the context, or the quotes are out of context or or or, excuse after excuse.”

The fact is, they are Bible quotes, and the Bible is full of evil atrocities which religious people continually cover up, yet seem happy to drum into the minds of gullible little children. This is such a shameful disgrace in a civilised world.

If religious people are unable to apply commonsense and logic to develop a simple moral code to live by, then perhaps they could strip out of the Bible the evil, murders, rapes, abuse, and all traumatic references. Granted there will not be a lot left to read, but at least religious people may end up with a decent moral code to follow based on good, and not scare the living daylights out of innocent little children.

1) The old testament never advocates sacrificing children - it actually warns not to since it was a common pagan practice at the time. God told Abraham to sacrifice Isaac to test His faith but stopped him before the child was harmed.
2) In the New Testament Jesus declares all foods clean (Mark 7:19, Acts 10:10-15)

Other Old Testament rules still apply except the penalty of sin does not (there is no condemnation for those in Christ). Jesus did not come to abolish the law but fulfill it. He also says to show your love for God by obeying His commands. If you follow Jesus, you will strive to become more like Him and follow His example of obedience to the laws.

we should follow the teachings of the New Testament because if we do--life sure goes better. What if there were no thiefs, no murderers, no adultery, respect for parents was a way of life, we treated others the way we would like to be treated, we loved everyone and did not hate or lie. Gee what a great place the world would be. No we can't live perfectly because we are tempted daily to do wrong. That is why we need forgiveness from God thru Jesus. If you are grateful for being forgiven and you love God u want to do what is right as much as humanly possible.

The bible is a message of faith about God's people and how they have obeyed him or not. NOt all of it is rules and regulations. But for those rules that are in it....in the old and new testament the answer is no. If any man could follow all those rules then he would be perfect. Following anything in the bible is your choice....you can believe in a God or not you can believe in what it says about christ being the perfect sacrifice for our sins like it does in hebrews or you might not. As a christian i can tell you that the old testament procedures for sins is not up to date...however the ten commandments are still good so we are to still follow those. As a believer in christ i follow His teachings as well as learn from instructions by His apostles and disciples.

God didn't write the Bible. It's a collection of all sorts of things from all sorts of authors compiled over centuries and then put into book form. Some is obviously fiction. Noah had seven days to collect penguins, elephants, rattlesnakes, even earthworms.

you have to remember that the bible was written for the people of that time and what ever tribe that person happened to be speaking to but what doesn't is gods commandments and the words that Christ taught us. look at the bible in a couple of ways
1. as our history
2. as divine guidance
3. as our salvation
4. Gods holy rules

From what I can gather, only the new testament is to be followed. It's too confusing, I don't follow the bible, period.

Jesus freed us from all of the old Levitical Laws and the 10 commandments too.

IF ONE IS A TRUE CHRISTIAN THEN RULES AND LAWS ARE NO LONGER NECESSARY. (This is NOT free license to sin)

The URL below will give some ideas as to what to follow or not>>
