I need a digital multimeter/ammeter for my electrical courses. I need a meter that measures AC/DC voltage, AC/DC current. It's been suggested that I get a clamp on meter, but is there one with leads and a clamp? I'm trying to stay under $300, and I like the Fluke meters, but I'm just not sure which one to get or if there's anything better.

Fluke is a very good brand.
fluke 330 series is below $300 and almost all clamps have also leads.
But do you really need a clamp to measure high currents?
a cheap ($50) made in china meter can measure currents up to 10 amps

Harbor Freight has some in their catalog. And yes, a clamp meter also has leads too, as the clamp is only used to inductively measure AC current. You still have to have the two leads to measure anything else.

Amprobe are best. Fluke is a close second! Go with the one that is easiest to use and only has the features you will need. Some seem like they can launch missles. Hope this helps.
