am looking at the 40" Bravia XBR's. Anybody own one and have opinions about this LCD TV? either good / bad. is it worth the money, is the picture as good at home, any problems with the set?

I've heard nothing but praise for the Bravia XBR's. Their only "knock" is the higher price when compared to similar sets from other brands. If you're on the fence right now ready to pull the trigger, I'd wait a month or so and get the newer XBR2s or XBR3s that are about to come out. They are an improved version of the Bravia XBR and will have a 40" and 46" version to choose from. They will also be 1080p as opposed to the current Bravia XBRs being 720p.

I repair all brands for a living, and normally I would not recommend LCD projection because the panels (especially the blue) gets damaged after a year or two. But I was repairing one today and I was reading up on the new panels, it's a spin off of the LCoS and they are hoping that it won't have the same problems as their old model had. Time will tell. The repair I was doing involved a bad 'Q-box' and thank god it was under warranty, because Sony parts are very expensive. So no matter what you buy, get the extended warranty.
