No. I treat dogs like dogs. I also treat cats like cats, and microwave ovens like microwave ovens.
I do this because things tend to work best when they are treated as being the things that they actually are. I don't want a dog which is locked in a permanent state of infantilism, I want a dog which is an asset to my life and a reliable worker.

Yes, I treat my dogs and cats as children. First thing in the morning I look to their needs before I even think about getting myself something to eat. I groom my dogs daily and my cats about twice a week, but they groom themselves better than the dogs do. I love my kids!

Yes I am guilty of that, not only do I not have kids, I live on my own. I cook my dogs food, he has his own jumpers and even a denim jacket, (he looks like the Fonz, so coool). He sleeps on the end of my bed and he watches telly with me, he is a little maltese cross shitsu poodle, so he doesnt take up much room. Sometimes though I think he is too smart for his own good!!!!

Before I came along and we had a human child, my husband had a dog. The pup was, is and always will be like a child to him. Hubby sees a similarity in the dependence of a child and the dependence of a pet. Both need love and companionship.

As much as I love my puppy, Bandit, he still does not enjoy the luxury of being an inside dog or a roadtrip companion.
You have to draw the line somewhere.
