posers to me, are people who suddenly change their entire lifestyle...not like overtime, like overnight. one da their wearing hude t shirts, really baggy jeans, and c walkin to biggy, and the next day they're weraing an extreemly small band t shirt, girls pants, and crying to an emo song.

these people are posers
theyre nothing other than annoying and they mean nothing
true goth/punk/emos (even though emo and the other two arent related) dont have to ask such questions...as a goth whose actually part of the subculture i dont find fasion to be an important aspect of the subculture, sure Tripps and UFO pants can look cool, but what you look like isnt important to what you are...ive had days where i just put on jeans and a white T-Shirt...now let me explain what it IS
punk is a subcultue almost like the modern day hippie, theyre ussually for freedom and DIY ethics...for the well-being of themselves...(with the exception of the nazi-punk) and have their unique sence of music, punks are ussually open to all walks of life (gay, bi, trans, insane =])
goth is a subculture born out of the punk subculture in the 80's, were almost like a dark version of punk with the exception of the music (punks have, well, punk and that stuff and goths have stuff like darkwave, synthpop, death rock *not to be confused with death metal as metal, while good, is not goth), other than that were pretty much the same, though we are castrised more in the media for our elleged connection to violence and satanism (even though the Columbine shooters {who are the ones most likely brought up} were not goth and never claimed to be so) also Marylin Manson {who is the epitome of pseudo-goth} who has nothing to do with the gothic culture....an example of "goth" bands are The Cruxshadows, Bauhaus, Sisters of Mercy, Siouxsie and the Banshees, and many more (if you want more just email me lol)...goth people are just "dark" not freaky and are NOT satanists, dangerous, violent etc (other than a few who are like every race/culture/subculture has)
sadly its not only these cultures being bastardized....most are...sadly =(

Posers are in many situations those that positioned on all the black to be goth, yet understand no longer something regarding the musical form that created it or this manner of existence surrounding it. that's many times a term for human beings interior the existence-style itself, yet could be utilized to all of us it relatively is merely doing a dull imitation of a few thing else and not being themselves by including their very own flare on what they like. even with the shown fact that, it gets complicated, because of the fact what happens while that man or woman has a frequently used interest in some thing else and starts off to imitate it? It looks like they could be a poser, yet rather are merely having shifting tastes and gaining understanding of approximately themselves. It looks like that's occurring on your chum. She's merely increasing her perspectives and affirming her in my view. that happens at that age.

Kids don't see themselves as posers because they really believe in their fantasy's - most all kids are posers now - pity! The girl or guy that does not act out some stupid role model thing has become the poser - posing as yourself is now uncool - God save America...

I see a poser as someone who poses as something they're not just so they can "fit in" or be "cool."
