Christians? Why would someone chose to be persecuted as a Christian?
I don't believe gay people are born that way anymore than I believe anyone is born a religion. They are choices....you may be more likely to be something depending on your birth (genetic or environmental) but you still make a choice.

Saying you're born gay is a cop-out to the truth.

I am a Christian who has been majorly persecuted for my beliefs for years, so saying that hasn't happened in 1000 years is a lie.

Just because you liked another girl (or boy) at age 5 or 6 or 7 does not mean you were born gay. There were boys and girls I thought were nice or cute at that age. Sex doesn't enter into that...that is another cop-out...it is denial. If sex entered into anything at those ages, something was wrong. (sexual abuse or something.)

I don't believe it....
And how can a gay man be a leading Christian? Does he read the word of God which says it is an abomination? How does he reconcile that God made him be born an abomination? That makes no sense.

"homosexuals shall not enter the kingdom of God" men burning in lust for other men is an abomination...you are making justification for your sexual desires.

I agree...it's a choice to sin.
Everything is a choice...it's called free will.

The central idea of free-will is choice. God gave us the right to choose to do one thing or the other, just like one can choose to put a gun to their head and paint the ground red or not. Does that mean its the best choice to make? I guess it is up to that person, like you said. However, with every choice we make comes a consequence. One choice can lead to what some consider good consequences, while another can lead to what some would consider bad consequences. We Christians believe the persecution, pickings-on, and hatred put against us is what we must endure for the consequences we are promised for doing so. I cannot say, with any real authority, that applying that same principle to having a same sex relationship is comparable. Then again I guess I'm bias by being hetrosexual, not because that is apart of being Christian but because I like women. With that said, what does Christian persecution have to do with homosexual persecution if the reasons are polar opposites that only share the word "persecution" you used?

That's a little different. I believe that it isn't a choice to be gay...Did you choose to be heterosexual? I would hope not or you have some things you need to resolve.I didn't look at my b/f and think oh yeah I'm gonna love him and not her over there. It doesnt work that way.
Edit:How is it a cop out? I know a guy that is gay and is a leading christian.HE is more accepting and open mindd then most "christians" I know.If he honestly thought he could pick and choose, he wouldn't be gay.
Edit: Now you are psychoanalyzing another person? wow...I had "boyfriends" when I was little. Jeez. I was never sexually abused.
Edit:Read for context..In those days pediphiles were outragous. Most CHRISTIAN scholers believe that the translation should read "old men shall not lie with young men.The accent marks on men are different and that therefore makes it a different translation. Also in the old testament they wanted procreation for the tribes.Read a history book.and the Bible...Judge not...Who are you to decide what is good or bad...let he among us without sin be the first to condem....
EDIT:can you give me the verse and translation of where it says that please?
EDIT:It says nothing like you claimed it does...It doesnt say anything like you made it sound...CONTEXT read for the context think about the times. Also Do you have grass in your front yard?Do you wear clothes made of more than one fiber? If yes your a hypocrite
EDIT:whats the verse in Gal.?if its 5:19 dont bother it just says immorality...that has a wide range of possible answers.(rape,cheating,etc.)
EDIT:GOtta take the whole bible..not just what you want.
EDIT:then maybe gay marriage should be legel.I know a few that consider themselves married but cant get the rights to do so...I also know alot of Christian couples that have sex,and arent married....hmmmm.....
EDIT: Didn't argue that its not sinful for acts outside of marriage....But it happons...Glad God forgives us arent you? your arguement is like saying ( I DO NOT MEAN FOR THIS TO OFFEND...) Is like saying someone with a born physical disablity chose to be that way.I'm tired and I'm going to bed....I'm not leaving for lack of knowledge...just sleepy...I'll check back tomarrow and see if you have any other questions...till then

It is true, a person is not born gay. More often has to do with a forgotten memory or forgotten instant in time when the powerful feeling of love influenced the mind, or the influence of the butterflies, so to speak. Children do not remember, and as older teens or adults we forget our young experiences. Often the person will think they are born gay, when they have forgotten this powerful influence of sorts. 1Co 6:9 -Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites. Notice the word inherit, this is a different word than enter. Even a homosexual can be saved by the Grace of God Almighty, through the blood of Jesus Christ. It is possible that a homosexual can be saved, and that will mean a change as well because once a person ask for the help of Jesus Christ and God Almighty gives His Grace, the person will change and become more like Jesus Christ. It may seem even a homosexual still exist as the person, but the person will change when the time is for the change, the plan and will of God Almighty will be done. So we should love our neighbors, and pray for them as well, and testify that anyone who ask in the name of Jesus Christ will be helped, anyone even a homosexual practicing homosexuality.

You know, being Christian is a protected status as well as a definitely chosen one.
I used to be in the Christian lifestyle, but I left, and I've been out for 13 years now. Should I therefore go around protesting when Christians get "special rights" or advocate that the law discriminate against them, because after all, they can change and I and other ex-Christians are proof?
Honestly, I'd just prefer it if everyone learns to understand that we're all individuals who can make choices, just so long as the choices don't infringe on anyone else's rights to life, liberty, and property.
I'm also frankly amazed at how easily some people can ask others to make sacrifices that they themselves don't have to make. "You should go without sex or love or relationships--it's a choice! Now I'll go join my loving husband, whom I'm actually attracted to!" Say what you will about pro-gay people, but we don't ask you to give up your relationship or act like it's a good thing for you to be lonely.

Bull, gay people are born gay. Homosexuality is perfectly normal, for homosexuals. Its not their fault. I think it is utter nonsense that Jesus would punish gays, he was a forgiving man right?
I am not gay, I am not for gay marriage, and I have no agenda for gay people, I only speak what I believe is truth. If God made gays, then he doesn't have a problem with them, if he made them. I guess thats part of the Christian nonsense that being Gay is a choice. Some people may try it, but you are or you are not.
I know someone obsessed with large breasts. He is going to wake up make a choice and say, nah, I don't like those anymore. Silly analogy perhaps, but its in your inner being, being gay. If your God or your Jesus wants to punish gay people, then what kind of religion is that? That is opposite of what religion is supposed to be. You bible thumpers are just like Muslims, except whimpier.

You have been majorly persecuted for your beliefs? Please. Christianity has been the major religion for hundreds of years. Many other religions have been actually persecuted within the last 100 years. Now on to your question. I have talked to many people who said they were born Christian and would never choose anything else. They are Christian and that is that. For most, religion is not a choice. People don't say they "choose" to believe in God, they just do. Being gay is not a choice either. It is just who you are. As other people have said, did you 'choose' to be heterosexual? No, you were born that way. To you, that is just how it is. It is the same for gay people, it is just how it is.

Then explain the twin studies (75%+ correlation between identical twins), explain the genetic studies (three different genetic markers with a 66% correlation for one and 50%+ correlation for the other two). Explain the differences in the structure of the medula oblongata that have a 90%+ correlation with homosexuality.
The simple facts are already there... there is an overwhelming amount of evidence that being gay is not a choice.
As with all other things psychologically determined but genetically biased, what one does with that determination is a choice. But if a homosexual chooses not to have homosexual sex, he/she is still a homosexual, and didn't choose to be.

Being gay is not genetics as recently proven. However, you bring up a valid point. We people should not be so vague and be so eager to judge others. Jesus said "Do not judge." I feel that this message is too greatly avoided by many christians. Regardless of whether homosexuality is right or not, we should not judge them for who they are. Thank you for bringing this subject up.

We do not choose to be persecuted. We choose to be with God, and with God comes persecutions, because the devil is always out to harm and to disturb God's people. But we, as the children of God, know that our Heavenly Father's protective arms are always around us and nothing can harm us
Persecutions may come, but remember :
Luke 10:19
Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
Matthew 7:13 -14
"Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.
If we are truly one with God, we rejoice in persecution, for indeed, the easy way out would lead to hell
In persecution, God shows us when we depend on Him, He delivers us from harm
In persecution, we are made strong in faith and in spirit
In persecution, God shows us miracles abundant.

I so did not ask to be a Christian, but, like you, I choose daily to take up the cross and follow Him. I choose to offer myself as a loving gift to an amazing God, who took the time to design me according to His Will for me.
I was raised by 5 women, was constantly battered as a child (by my father), and have men hit on me or ask me if I'm gay daily. I'm also quite straight, and have an amazingly beautiful daughter. If society would have gotten its way, I should be gay...
