Make them feel that they can never be good enough to get to heaven?

The Catholic Church follow's God's laws. We do not 'condemn' people, we tell them when they do wrong and help them do right. God's laws are there to help us get to Heaven, not to scare us. He wants us there with Him forever. I am a mother and have certain expectations of my son and when he doesn't live up to them he is disciplined. God have HUGE expectations for us and when we sin He has every right to discipline us.
In the end, He will have the last word.

The expression 'the catholic church' can mean your catholic parents, the catholic man that lives next door to you, or the priest that is at your parish, or the group of higher ups that decide how to interpret the traditional teachings of the catholic church, or the pope. These are not necessarily all in agreement. While the man next door to you might be constantly condemning people, this is not representative of the catholic church.
The actual official teaching of the catholic church does not constantly condemn poeple. The church teaches forgiveness, reconciliation, repentence, and recognizes that humans are weak and fall into sin, and that Jesus loves them so much that he came and died so that they can be forgiven.
I once went to a priest and said,, I have a choice,, I can either become a nun and stay inside the church doing rosaries all day, or I can go out and do the best I can to live my life, but I may make mistakes and I may even sin,, which is better?
He told me that I should live my life the best I can,, and if I make a mistake, or sin, that that is why the confessional is there and so is he.
The issue of being 'good enough to get to heaven' is another issue,,, nobody is 'good enough' to get to heaven,,, that is certainly true, but Christians believe that Jesus came and died for us so that we can be forgiven, and by His Blood, in his mercy,,, if we do the best we can,,, we will get there.
So relax,, do the best you can,, and trust that Jesus will lead you there. He loves you,, left the 99 and came for you.

I don't have the answer for everything but I believe I can answer that. Religion's are money based and people based. If you don't feel your good enough for God to take you as you are. Then it gives them a purpose to people. So they in a sense have a go between. But in all actuallity if anyone understands we were chosen above the Angels in the kingdom of Heaven to be with God. He want's us sin and all. But we are given the free will to choose (him or not) something the Angels were not allowed to do. When they did this he immediately punished them. Yet he gives us time to find him. So regardless of what the Catholic church said. We know and always must remember we can go to God anywhere and be with him at any time of our choosing.

No religions teach or encourage or allow their believers to condemn other people.
Bad or good man today may change tomorrow. And only God knows man's heart, so where is the base for condemnation. Just ignore ignorant attitude.

I'm not picking on the Catholics but Catholicism is more about religion than relationship. It's about ceremonies and traditions.

There is no condemnation in Jesus Christ!

Grace and God Bless!

A church is a christian entity that (proclaims to) teach(es) a relgion and knows right from wrong. As such, it has to condemn ppl who do not subscribe to its perception of what is right, specially in cases where the perpetrator is claiming to follow the teachings of the church. As such it should condemn priests practicing paedophelia etc.

Catholics like to do that, but in the condemning department no one damns people to hell as often as the Baptists.

Trust me, I'm an expert on the topic.

If I've not been damed to hell at least 3 times in a day, it just doesn't seem like I've accomplished anything.

I think catholism should be a lot more focused on showing God's grace than condemnation. That's just my opinion. I think it's mainly for discipline.
