yes, i have panic attacks so bad my husband has had to take me to the hospital. i suffer from depression, post tramatic stress disorder. i lived like this for years. finally i felt as though if i didn't do something about it i would go crazy. i found a wonderful phychitrist, that found the right medication for me. i was still having panic attacks, but my dr. dosn't believe in zanax,or any other meds that are very popular, because of the dependance and side affects. he told me that panic attacks come from not being able to be in control of situations. i've learned, just recently if i start to feel nervous, i stop, get in a quiet place, and start thinking about what has happened before i started to feel like that. if it's a person, and i can confront the situation, then i do, ask the person if they ment what they said the way i took it.if it's a person or aplace that makes you uncomfortable, then eleminate that person from your life,or if it's a place, then don't go there. remember whatever your feelings are you are entitled to feel that. don't try to please everyone cause you're setting yourself up for failure. there are toxic people that will use you up and throw you away. most importantly take care of yourself, and get rid of anything that causes you stress. if you can get a good physcitrist, that will make all the difference. alot of general practice drs. will just give you something and it may make things worse. i hope you get the right help, and i hoped this helped you a little

Yes , I've had panic attacks since I was 8 years old , started with my heart pounding really hard and then turned into hyperventilation. I hyperventilated so much I got really sick. I skipped school because I was so ill and got institutionalized at 13 for 2 months. Got put on 5 different meds w/ bad side effects. Quit taking meds and now I smoke pot. Pot made it worse at first but then I smoked more and more and now I just get relaxed.
People with panic attacks tend to avoid places which trigger attacks. Its a coping mechanism. However it messes up your life. What you have to do is ease your way into your life again. Understand its not the places , but the feeling associated with them that are causing you problems. Ask yourself what is it about going out in public or going to work that is uncomfortable ?Find ways to make it more comfortable. Talk to the people you work with about it , build support there. Panic attacks are like the water boiling over the side of the pot , you must turn down the temp first in order to make it stop.

According to the reading I have done regarding hypoglycemia (low blood sugar), the brain, when it senses that blood sugar is low, will do sometimes strange things to get the blood sugar (glucose) out of storage and into the blood stream. Adrenaline is one sure way to do this. If a panic causes an adrenaline spurt, then low blood sugar is probably the cause.
Suggestion? The next time you start to feel panicky, go to the kitchen and get some protein, meat, a can of tuna (salmon is better) or whatever, and eat it. Also have some carbohydrate, like a handful of chips, an apple, or some carrots/celery, and also some nuts like almonds or peanuts (unless you are allergic). Eat at least 2 ounces of the protein. Then drink a glass of water and do something mildly active, like singing for 30 minutes. You may find your panic has lessened a bit.
Chronic low blood sugar can also cause self-esteem problems, anger management problems and a whole bunch of other physical and mental nasties. You may want to check out the symptoms link on www.hufa.org, and see how you check out.

If you're suffering from not being able to go out in public then it may be agorophobia. Which is caused by severe panic attacks. I had very bad panic attacks for the longest time. I am now on an anti-depressant that helps with them. I've taken xanax for my panic attacks which helps a lot. If you're suffering from agorophobia you should go to counseling. yo umay need to be put on medication.

It is from the family of PHOBIA's (fear). Everyone on this page may have some kind of PHOBIA either experienced or never discovered. Everyone has varied levels of fear instincts once it crosses the level u may feel that panicked.
The solution comes majorly from 2 options
1. Throwing yourself out among the people to kick out fear
OR
2. Throwing yourself always on the bed with closed doors depending on panic relieving medicines,
Mind U all these so called medicines make U addicted to sleep day by day, more n more.

I had panic attacks for years and still do occasionally yet they are less frightening now, now that I know what they are are what their origin is. The "fight and flight syndrome". I had a therapist and was on paxil then xanax for a while until I realized that I had to have to power to get better without medication. I allowed my thoughts to consume me and control my life..I still get overwhelmed with life and then I get anxious ..then I step back, listen to tranquil music and realize that I am taking life far too seriously..eventaully I reach a calm.but it took years of practice and patince, A good book to read is "Hope and Help For Your Nerves" by Claire Weeks

Yes I have panic attacks. They started about 2 years ago. I have been through counseling and put on medication and they are now under control. They are very scary and can impair your life. I have mine in the middle of the night. Occasionally during the day. I wake up sweaty, shaking, heart racing, and usually nauseated. It is terrible!! I take effexor daily and xanax when I have one or feel one coming on. It helps a lot. My mom has had them all her life, so they can be hereditary.

This is called agoraphobia. Panic attacks are quite common but it sounds like you may need to seek out professional advice. Its important to get the bottom of your problem or its likely that it will continue to get more difficult to do things.

I don't know anyone with these problems but I hope you dont' have them. I know alot of theraphy can help cure a person. I realize the world is a scary place, and people are always out to get you, but having a family is so much more important.
I'd want to live.
