Why would it be dumb to get a boxer as a rescue dog? It depends on your lifestyle what type of dog you should get. Do you have a lot of room, a backyard, are you willing to exercise the dog, and do you have the time to devote, etc? Hip displacia is more common in certain breeds, but there is no guarantee one way or another that the dog will get that. I have 3 mutts, and mutts tend to be healthier, but even they get sick sometimes.

Hip problems are generic.Small dogs as well as large can inherit that problem. You can get a vet to check via x-rays. Boxers are cool dogs and especially good with kids. Watch the Dog Whisperer on TV..great info. for any dog lover. Have fun!

any dog can have have hip issues. check with the breeder for the 3 generation pedigree and hips of the dogs there. thats a good indicator on the probable health of the pup. i think a boxer would be great at rescue. they are smart and hard working.

Many breeds are prone to hip dysplasia, from Pugs to Mastiffs.
Research Boxers and see the other health issues they can have. Cancer and other orthopedic problems are not uncommon.
