This may sound stupid, but I don't know how to use international mailing addresses on an envelope. I would like to write to my birth family, but their address is so different from the U.S, that it confuses me. Their mailing address is from Daegu City, South Korea. Would anyone know how to write such a matter?

Ok, in Korea... they write the address back to front...
For an example:

South Korea 대한민국
Daegu Si 대구시
__________ dong (town/area name) and area number (like postcode) _________동 000-0번지
Apartment name, Apartment number ____APT/etc _______호(number)
Name of receiver

Your return address would go in the top left hand corner.
However when sending from overseas to Korea... they will be able to get it to the person as long as you have the apartment name and number, and the area/postal code.
So you can send it in the normal manner you would in America.

Daegu City would go on the line before South Korea.
Are you able to write Korean, if so, you can do it the back to front way in Korean.

Addressing the envelope will have to depend what your postal agency specify. This is because different country postal system being automated need positioning of stamp/s and addresses for the system to sort.

I am in Singapore. Here we label the receiver address in the centre front of the envelope and put the sender's address at the back of the envelope. This is to allow putting stamp/s, chop-mark/s and sticker/s on the front.

And usually it is preferred that the country is stated in English to facilitate transfer from place to place, and country to country. So far, this is how this is done now.

Previously I wrote my sender address in the top left corner in front of the envelope but had to change with the postal ruling.

So you will need to check with your postal service. It should not differ much from how you send your local mails.

Note: means Province, means City, means Street, Block or Village, and means Ward or District. South Korea is divided into nine Do, each of which has its own government.

Recipient's address in the center,
Your address in the upper left corner.

Include street, city, state, and pin.
If you are not sure of what to put, just put everything you know.
