Radio? Please answer me because i need this info.

You have to find out the voltage drop across the led is. The voltage drop across a germaniun diode is .3V and they have to match for the circuit to work....Good luck!

No, LED won't work as a detector. High frequency response of a typical LED is not sufficient for radio frequency uses. Plus junction capacitance is too large.

Just get a germanium diode, 1N60 or 1N34A will be just fine. (commonly available)

Just order the Gernamium diode.
I even found a few at a Radio Shack that was clearing off the "Parts" walls.
Got them cheap, too!
The wheel has been invented...just enjoy it
