No big deal when it's cooked.

Chicken bones are not good for any dog as far as I know. My black lab a few years ago got a hold of some chicken bones (just a thigh as well) and I FREAKED! THe thing you have to worry about is the bones splintering in the intestines. My lab went to doggy ER and they said to break up some bread and some canned food and mix it together and make sure the dog eats it. That way, the bread will hopefully encase the bones slightly and should help prevent splintering. Watch for coughing up blood and bloody stools for the next two weeks.

If the chicken had bones, there could be a problem. Unlike raw chicken bones, cooked chicken bones can splinter and the fragments can lodge in the intestines. If that happens, the condition can be fatal if not treated immediately.
Watch her carefully for the next few days for any signs of distress such as bleeding from the rectum, vomiting, etc. Usually, there's no problem, but if she does act uncomfortable or is in obvious pain, take her to the vet right away.

With dogs any bones are OK when NOT cooked.
A cooked bone can splinter in your dog's mouth and stick in its throat or gullet. However with your dog, a pit bull has very strong throat and jaws. It's very unlikely your dog's going to have any problem with what he ate. Usually with a splintered bone any problems are obvious within the first hour of consumption.
The dog's digestive system should take care of any bone he can swallow. Next time make sure the dog's eating raw bones though.
If it were a much smaller and more frail dog, you might want a vet to xray the dog's abdomen. But a pit bull should have strong enough guts to make short work of those little chicken bones.

I think the dog was hungry....The chicken bone is what the owner is concerned with...The bone is soft and breaks up easy. You can pop some popcorn and share it with the dog or a couple of slices of bread should cushion the bones. I would be more concerned with a breast as all the little bones. A thigh has one major in it. Shouldn't be a prob....Oh yes love your Pit Bull and they will love you back...my black lab will sneak food when it can it doesn't mean she's a violent dog..Just hungry.

chicken bone are the most dangerous because they splinter [rib bones are ok as is any bone that breaks evenly with a smooth edge} anyhow pit bulls have very strong jaws and digestive systems so unless she stops eating well - bleeds when she goes #2 or acts sluggish she should be ok just be careful with chicken bone around her - she sounds very determined and quick good luck i hope she's ok --maybe call a vets office tomorrow and ask for more distinctive signs

I'm guessing she ate the bones? My dog used to like to eat sticks when he was a puppy (not really sure why!) and he used to have some bleeding out the backend, so I'd take him to the vet. We had to keep the yard thoroughly cleaned of sticks! Anyhow, watch for bleeding and vomiting to ensure she doesn't have one that's splintered inside.

If your dog doesnt show any sign of uncomfort, she should be fine. If she start throwing up or acts differently, then you have to take her to the vet as soon as possible. Chicken bone could be very dangerous to dogs. Good Luck.

I believe that it will be alright as long as a bone didn't break and splinter. My dog has taken nearly a whole chicken fryer off the counter and ate it.

Don't worry about it. It is not a good idea for dogs to eat bird bones because they are hollow and can splinter when chewed but one time is not a great risk.
