Yesterday I saw a lady talking on a cell phone, smoking a cigarette, and taking a drink of her soda all at the same time! She almost missed a stop sign.

OR - require hands free devices?

To all the men who think this law should apply only to women - why do I pay more car insurance for my SONS than my daughter? Also, a man's insurance goes down when he gets married - because we women will teach you how to drive better - lol

It should be illegal to do anything that distracts you from drving safely, and cell phones are a major contributor to distractions...

However, the problem is one of enforcement - if cops were to ticket every driver who is talking on their cell phone, they would have 1000s of tickets a day to process. And how do you prove someone was talking on their cell phone when they got into an accident? The bluetooth phones make it harder to tell if they are on the phone, singing with the radio, or talking to a passenger...

Even with the hands-free, not every phone has voice activation, so you still have to dial the phone and answer the phone...

I turned off to drivers using cell phones when I witness a motorcylist talking on a cell phone on a very busy intercity expressway. His tie was flapping in the wind and he was doing well in excess of 80 MPG while cutting between cars!

I slowed way down expecting him to be in an accident at any moment.

Yes, hands free is better, but it still does not stop the fact that the driver is being distracted while driving. Some people are better than others, but in test, even the best drivers can NOT do as well with their driving when they are being distracted by other issues (besides cell phone, there could be many other items than can and will distract a driver).

Yes and that should include hands-free devices.

The person on the other line doesn't know your situation on the road and will keep talking and distracting you even if conditions are dangerous.

That's why is so much less safe to be talking on the phone while driving compared to having a conversation with a passenger in the car with you. The passenger knows when to shut up when things get dicey.

Holding a phone in one hand makes it even worse, but the bottom line is that driving and having a phone conversation at the same time is dangerous.

I think Cell phones should NOT in any way shape or form be allowed in the vehicle while driving. For either gender is that fair enough.

In response to why women have lower insurance I thought that was funny.

Hear my response to that.

More women get caught up in their cell phone conversations than men do.
They tend to sit in a car and talk and forget to move when the lights turn green.

**(Fact men can only focus on one thing at a time)**

While women are talking to their men on the phone while he is driving asking "Do you love me if so how much" the husband gets into an accident running into the back of a vehicle parked in the street while the light is green. It shouldnt be surprising a woman was the other driver in the other car.

Later that day you tell your wife you wrecked the family car in accident she ask's how did it happen while the husband is Quietly thinking of how to respond while drinking a beer.

Later that night the couple are fooling around while she is on her knees and elbows and her husband is directly behind her. The husbands mind begins to wander to prolong the pleasure and correlate with what happened earlier regaurding the accident. An epiphany moment occurs.

Without warning the husband pulls out then drives it deep into his wifes a#s. And repeattedly say's dont call me on my cell phone when im driving.
The Husbands pace picks up as he becomes more focused as he takes out his frustraition on his wife's a#s soon this makes him orgasim he exhausted and feels like he's reached thru to his wife (with clear communication skills )soon he falls asleep with a smile on his face.

No wonder women dont like anal sex and mens car insurance goes down when we get married.

yes it should be against the law unless it's a hands free phone when driving a driver should have both hands on the wheel and pay more attention to the road and smoking should be against the law while driving the cigarette can fall of the hand and fall on the lap and cause an accident because the driver will be trying to find the cigarette and take the eyes of the road.

Hands free devices is fine, but I seriously don't think that I drive any worse on my cell phone. I just make sure I dial the number at a stop light or before I drive away. I think it is dangerous to take my eyes off the road to dial. Talking on a cell phone for me is like talking to a passenger while driving with one hand. I do it anyway.

yes. i've seen people talking on the cell while they're driving. They are not paying attention, and it is dangerous. If you think about others' safety not just about your satisfaction, you shouldn't be using the cell phone while you drive. If everyone realizes it, we don't need the LAW.

unfortunately, some still talk on the cell, so i think we need the law. i've seen some research saying people are not paying attention even when they use hands free devices. those are not for driving. they are for convenience.

It should be the law for incompetent drivers to give up their license before they harm someone . Take a cell phone out of their hands and they'll automatically know how to drive ? I doubt it . We don't need the cell phone police . People need to pay attention -no matter what !

i think it should only be against the law for women to talk on the phone while driving because men are smart enough to put down there phones when they need to
