The problem is that we're given an image of beauty that is quite unrealistic for the average human. This has the effect of making perfectly normal, healthy, and ATTRACTIVE, people feel fat and unattractive...
I read somewhere that if a woman had the proportions of a Barbie Doll, she would be so ill she would actually be incapable of menstruating...
That, alone, should tell us something about these standards of beauty we keep on foisting on young girls and boys.
It's no wonder there's so much Anexoria in the world today...

you grew up in a world that is superficial, self obsessed, and based off appearance. Well.. on TV that is. It's also in ads, magazines, and whether or not people think its true- it does effect our psyche and perception of other humans and ourselves. Think back 70 years ago.. when they didn't even have tv. People lived their days seeing average people, none had plastic surgery, fake hair, airbrushing etc. This day in age, we see these images for hours and hours a day. Think of the toll that will take on our memory and psyche! We dont' even realize most of the stuff has been airbrushed or that almost every celebrity has had some sort of surgery, fake teeth, fake hair, makeup artist, etc.
I am a healthy weight as well but I struggle with low self esteem and constantly feel fat as well. You aren't alone

People who have been too fat often still feel too fat even after they have lost weight. Maybe it's because of pressure in our society to not be overweight. If your scale is ok, than believe it.You are not overweight.

Sometimes people tend to be over-critical of their appearance. If your weight is average, be happy. Most people in North America are overweight. And never mind the skinny supermodel types -- most of them are extremely unhealthy due to the drugs and starvation diets they do.

Try and say positive things about your body weight and you won't think you're fat anymore. It is all in the mind.
