I would recommend working in Saudi Arabia if you are a male nurse. For a female it is more difficult because they are not allowed to drive. I would first get some info from the place where you will be working about the accomodations you can expect. If you will be housed in a compound with other expats it will be easier then an apartment in a Saudi neighborhood and find out where the other expats are from. Also is there a bus that can be taken to shopping, the malls etc. Find out what facilities are in the compound, some have tennis courts and gyms, others have nothing at all. Maybe you can ask if the hospital can give you the name of a couple of the expats already there and their email addresses so that you can contact them and find out about the working and living cconditions. In any case, Saudi Arabia is a very nice country to visit, the people are open and friendly as long as you respect their religion and dont approach any women. lol.
I enjoyed my time there and I hope you do too.

Well...it depends on what kind of a person you are. Riyadh is a strict city compared to Jeddah or Dammam. You won't have much of a social life as there are no pubs or clubs and you won't be able to go out on dates. But let me tell you, the salary and benefits will be good! If you need to save money, then come 'cuz the money here is tax-free so you'll save a lot. You can always work for a year or two, save money and then go home.
If you live in a compound, you should be ok. I've never lived in one so I don't know what it's like but I've heard that you can get together with women at parties and stuff and people do supposedly make illegal alcohol. I'm not 100% sure about that though.
I would recommend you to come especially if you have a stero-type image of Arabs. It'll help you see that we're extremely hospital and generous people. I guarentee that you won't forget your time here. Plus, there are lots of places to go as a tourist, so come...check it out.

Working in Saudi Arabia means giving up your social life.
No social life in KSA,
(unless you are lucky enough to live in a residential compound with European foreign workers.)
so whether working there is recommeded or not,
depends on your preferences and on the Salary/wages you'll be receiving, if you'll be receiving a big big dream salary, and willing to let go your hobbies and social activities in order to save money then return home, go for it.
otherwise, think twice.

if you care too much about women and beer, Riyadh is not the place to be. If you're gay, Riyadh is your heaven.

Hi,,, hmm,,, I work in Saudia,,, and I can not say that I would recommend it to anyone...... I am there because of my job,,, but it is Not set up for the tourist type travel ..... and they are the main holders of the religion of Islam...since Mecca is there,, and no you cannot go there unless you are a muslim......
You would be better off to go to UAE or Bharain,,, if you just want to go work in the middle east...... no kidding....
There is no alcohol allowed,,, you cant go scope out the (babes) on the beach, or in the mall... you are pretty much,, stuck there,,, after you are there,,, the compounds you live in are nice,,, and the food is good...

good luck.. but dont go.....
