Centipedes can't be an insect because they have more than 6 legs. Actually, they are a "true bug."

The Insecta (insects) are a Class of the large animal Phylum called ARTHROPODA (arthropods) - a name that refers to the jointed limbs. The other major Classes of living arthropods (i.e. animals related to insects) include the Crustacea (crabs, lobsters, shrimps, barnacles, woodlice, etc.), the Myriapoda (millipedes, centipedes, etc.) and the Arachnida (scorpions, king crabs, spiders, mites, ticks, etc.).

I don't think so ; insects have six legs. Centipedes are in the right phylum (arthropoda) but are in the wrong class (chilopoda instead of insecta)

Definately not, an insect must have 6 legs only. But they are hideous though!
