I am sorry for your lose,
I would be devastated my dog is currently 13; I’ve had her since she was 3months old. When she does eventual pass on I will be extremely heart broken I get tear eyed just thinking about it so I know I’ll be a mess when she finale does pass.
I know she will go to heaven and I’d be glad that she had died of old age and didn’t dye in some horrible way. Yet it wouldn’t make it any easier I know I’ll miss her fore the rest of my life, in till I too pass and we are reunite for eternity

Apricot was a little bichon frese whose normal life was 9 years. She lived comfortably until she was 16 calendar years old, which in dog years is about 100 human years. Up until the day we had to put her to sleep she was an active intelligent loving member of the family.
We came home one afternoon and she jumped off her favorite chair and then couldn't move her back legs. She cried trying to come to us but simply couldn't move. She had broken her back jumping down from the chair.
We took her to the vet and he confirmed what we has suspected. We had her put to sleep since she was in such pain from the spinal injury.
It was like putting one of my children to sleep. I am 57 and I cried for days after and still do.
We have moved on and now have a wonderful border collie named China. I will react the same way when she passes.
Humans were given the gift of love for all of God's creatures The pain of losing them is the price we pay to love.

This is the sad part of having a pet. We know they have much shorter life spans that we live. However, I like to say that we are blessed to have had their loving friendship, and our lives are much better having known them. We honor them with our happiness when we remember all the wonderful things about them.

that is my hope for all my dogs. that would be so great for them to live as long as they could then go so peacefully into the next life..... your baby will always be with you in your heart and soul. you did a very good job with him. :) its ok to be sad. wait a while then give another very lucky pet a wonderful loving home .

My dog died at ten from cancer, I would have given anything to be with my friend for longer.
I'm sorry for your loss, it's a bummer at whatever age.
