Lev 15:19 And if a woman's issue in her flesh is a flow of blood, she shall be in her impurity seven days; and whoever touches her shall be unclean until the evening.
Lev 15:20 And anything on which she lies in her impurity shall be unclean; and anything on which she sits shall be unclean.
Lev 15:21 And whoever touches her bed shall wash his clothes and bathe in water, and be unclean until the evening.
Lev 15:22 And whoever touches anything on which she sits shall wash his clothes and bathe himself in water, and be unclean until the evening.
Lev 15:23 And if it is on the bed, or on anything on which she sits when he touches it, he shall be unclean until the evening.

This is not an insult to christianity, I just want to know the how important it is for men and women to be unclean.

I'm sighing because I've answered similar questions. The point of those scriptures were in the days when there was very little hygiene. The women did not have maxipads and tampons in those days. So, the idea of washing the bedding and separating a woman in her menses was not to say the woman was unworthy, but rather to avoid the contamination that results from blood left on clothing, and bedding.
If you think that was bad, think about what the bedding must of been like in those days in a culture that did not practice this...YUCk!

This no longer applies to the Christian. No Saint of Jesus is ever unclean, as He hung on the cross and took away all curses. This can be viewed in the same category as when Peter had a dream where the Lord told him to get up and eat all the "unclean" food. When Peter tried to debate with the Lord, He said, "don't call unclean what I declare to be clean"

This refers to the Mosaic Law and is part of what Christians call The Old Covenant. There was a lot of discussion in the early Church, as the book of Acts and letters of Paul tell us, about whether or not Christians had to observe the Old Covenant, since Jesus gave only one commandment to go with the New Covenant and that is to Love as He loves, mercifully. Paul says that if we decide to observe part of the Old Covenant, then we must observe all of it. so, if you decide you are bound by this Old Testament law, then fine, but that also obliges you to the rest of it, and there are a lot of them, including kosher food. We can just pick and choose one commandment here and skip the next and observe the third one.. It is all or none. We can't just choose like in a deli, the ones we like and forget the ones we don't like. You might want to put your wife up in a hotel for 4 days out of the month,, but then you have to also cover your head and weaar the tzittzit. :)

A lot of things were unclean and had to be explained to people by God back then, because they did not have the hygiene we do today. It is best not to "touch" or have intercourse with a woman while she is "flowing."

As a father of six daughters (all of whom I love) I want to scream YES YES YES!!!!!!!!
However, the verses above probably have more to do with health than anything else, and since our living conditions and hygiene are so much higher than theirs, they no longer apply.

Interestingly enough, this is a common custom through many cultures. I wonder if they picked this up from the Pagan tribes.....
