I've noticed some people on here simply put as an answer "You need help". Is it just me, or does anyone else think this seems like a subtle way of saying "You need psychiatric help because your beliefs don't agree with mine, therefore you are wrong." Are some people so set in their paradigms that they think certainty equals fact or reality? All parties are guilty of this, theists and atheists.

well.... there are many reasons to post you need help.
It is a way of saying the questioner is too far out and lost in his own self created delusion.
I have noticed many different types of questions and answers.
it is not that the person doesn't agree with them it is because the WAY THEY Phrase the scree does not warrant any more of an answer than that.
some of the so called questions are just rants and bully put downs... they don't deserve anymore than that and the questioner wouldn't listen (read and understand) because he answers the Q in the rant scree... it seldom has sentence structure.

Usually when I say that I say "you should seek professional help.". It's usually the questions that I think shouldn't be left up to strangers who have no training. Some people on here are truly troubled and many have very good reasons for being troubled. In cases like these, some quick answer that was written by someone who means well, but has no idea what the whole story is likely won't do the trick and may make the situation worse. I usually don't answer questions that I find offensive or that I just don't understand.

If I feel that the person sounds somewhat deranged or unusually depressed or angry I usually suggest that they tell their problem to a doctor and I pray that the doctor will help discern if they need psychiatric help, medical help, or whatever.
Occasionally I will suggest a person see a counsellor. But I don't think I have ever said just "you need help"
ON the other hand. Have you seen some of the questions in here? I usually just ignore or report the ones that are really over the edge. But I have seen people answer them with the "YOU need help button".

That is what they are saying. Some people have closed minds and can't see any further than themselves. So if you have a different opinion than they do then you are wrong. I had a teacher in college like that. She had us read a book and gave us a quiz on it. One question she asked us was an opinion question. Most everyone of us got it wrong. How can we get it wrong if she was asking our opinion on it. Closed minds. The only time I say someone needs help is when they tell a stupid joke.

You need help. I'm just kidding. Well in my opinion people are very um....protective of there religions. Like me. but just because i am an athiest doesn't mean i go around trashing every religion that disagrees with my beliefs....like you said. that is basically the rep that most athiests have and i can see why. and some other religions as well. Hopfully not me cuz i try to be as nice as possible. But in shorter terms that probably make more sence....i agree with you.

No I don't think so. Sometimes someone really posts a bigoted question and tries to get people ire up. Maybe they're serious; maybe they're not. When the question is hateful, prejudiced and bigoted then people can't believe someone would actually think like that and tell them they need help.

i think people on here do that all the time. It's easier than backing up their beliefs with fact or even opinion. It's obnoxious and makes me personally less likely to pay attention to any point (if there was any) that they were trying to make.

I have been guilty of that in the pass. I guess when someone write God isn't real it's so shocking that someone would believe that way that we see it as a problem. Like someone is off or something...Not that they are but this site is a hoot when you 1st get here and shocking

It is a quick way to earn points! No insult intended.
Yea, right, they are the ones who need help because they can't think up a good answer. They want the points. Just can't bring myself to hurt people for points. Please don't take their insults personally, they are just being silly & greedy.
Have a lovely day :)

Yes. I agree with everything you said. It's too bad. Practice tolerance, not hate.
