I ask this question because a friend of mines told me that her 1-1/2 year old cat urinated on her while she was sleeping. She woke up with the cat over her neck urinating on her. Why? I myself have no answer for her. The only thing I could ask her was what did you do to the cat? She said "nothing."

Some cats urinate in odd places to show the owner that they have a bladder or kidney infection. My cat once urinated right in front of me on the bathroom counter, and she had blood in her urine. I guess she was trying to show me she didn't feel well. Unless the cat is known for not using its litter box, I would take it to the vet to rule out a bladder infection.

There are SO many reasons (possibilities)... The owner has to get into the cat's psyche (know her cat) to begin to GUESS what might be going on.

The cat could be mad... Maybe it hadn't received enough attention... If there is more than one cat, maybe it's jealous of the other's attention... Maybe the litter box isn't clean enough...

... I suppose the owner has to try to determine what maybe have been different in the last week or two that might cause the retaliation.

The cat may be ill and trying to let the owner know. (I'm a naturalist; I don't believe in vets. Depending on my cats' symptoms, I treat them with good food & herbs.) I hate to say this, but the owner could take the cat to a vet... (...poor cat....)

:)

Peace.

2 possibilities

An unspayed tomcat?... Mabe he dint urinate but sprayed on your freind... He is doing so to mark his territory...

Some cats also urinate in odd places to show their humans
they have a urinary tract infection... Wich can be fatal with felines!
Tell your freind to see a vet ASAP . The cat will have to go on special prescription vet food for at least one month. If taken in time the cat will not develop all kind of urinary tract problems that can leadtokidney problems that will cost much more than that exam and some special cat food!

Big Mama,
My cat, that I had for four years peed 4 different times on my side of the bed and once on my clothes (I'd taken off the night before). She was in perfect health and I hadn't done anything to her. And she had 2 clean litter boxes.
But we figure she did it because my husband had not been showing her, her normal attention she was use to and she must've felt it was my fault because he was still showing me attention...lol... So in territorial anger, she marked my side of the bed and my clothes with her scent......
We cured her problem.... 'she now lives outside! And knows now, I'm the lead Cat in this house!' ..lol.......

My neighbor's orange tabby has peed on her 3 times...all 3 times she was early in a pregnancy. The doctor said it was something to do with elevated hormones that the cat could smell.
Go figure !

The cat is trying to leave her scent on her owner, marking the person as his/her property so the other cats will stay away.

My cat Spookie had urinary problems. His urine would get very alkaline and burn him. One night he peed on my head. I was stunned. He wasn't mad at me. He needed to get my attention and try to solve his urinary problem.

The problem was solved, by putting him on a raw meat diet. That's a diet that keeps cat urine slightly on the acid side which is ideal for the cat.

Some animals have been known to be territorial. Maybe the cat was being like "you're mine" :p
