While insects are commonly called bugs, not all insects are True bugs.

True bugs represent only one order of insects called Hemiptera ("Half-wing") These are mostly harmless, but there are a few that do inspire fear, such as the Giant Water Bug (also called Nail Biters).

So for someone afraid of true bugs, the term Hemipteraphobia should apply.

However, Either Entomophobia or Insectaphobia refer to a general fear of insects.

well the fear of spiders is arachnophobia. i couldnt find bugs in general. but it could be called a bug phobia or insect phobia.


ok i found it. its entomophobia. not to be confuzed with entonophobia which is fear of ticks

Don't know .but I am scared of bugs too.I thought I heard a cricket in my house tonight ,I told my husband to find it and kill it or I wasn't coming back inside until he did.

Entomophobia is the fear of bugs, while Insectophobia is the fear of insects.
