I've talk to the owners of both cars and they are in great condition and run great.

Assuming that the descriptions are accurate...the '96 is the obvious way to go. Even though it is a year older, it has a significantly lower mileage...92,400 miles is a little high for the '97. Aside from that, while the '97 may have a "clean" CARFAX history, the seller of the '96 is the ORIGINAL owner of the vehicle, which is a BIG statement in itself. That says that he/she is aware of anything that has happened to the vehicle, whereas with multiple reselling of a car, it's just like spreading a rumor...the story changes a little every time. You never know what might have been snuck past somebody in the past or what might have just got "slipped under the rug". Having multiple owners also leaves open the question of WHY it was sold each time...did they not like the car, just need the money, or was there really just something WRONG with it? ...YOU'LL NEVER KNOW! Being the original owner of the car also shows that he/she is responsible enough with their car to take care of it and upkeep it to the point that 10 years later, it can still be described as MINT CONDITION. As far as the color goes, the fact that it is red may or may not cost you a little more on insurance, but it doesn't matter if the car is red...if you speed, you WILL get pulled over...a red car won't break the law any more or any less than a green one will. The fact that the '96 doesn't have the sunroof, in my opinion, is a GOOD thing. It's just another thing added to the car that could break or leak, and there is absolutely no need for it anyway...it would only cause problems later. The only other thing I can hint at is the fact that there is a good reason the '96 costs a little more...but that is to be assumed. The last thing I have to tell you is...no matter WHAT car you get, have it THOROUGHLY checked out by a good trusted mechanic. My dad was a mechanic for over 30 years (now retired), and I've had my fair share of automotive work myself, so I speak from experience.

I hope my answer was helpful, and the best of luck to you!

**** dude dont get ur son a 3000gt. get him a subaru wrx sti. the sti is the best car for ur son. he will love it. i have an 06 sti n i would not have nething else. and if u do error n get him a 3000gt than make sure its manual. the automatic 3000gt is really shitty. the performance sucks a lot. but go w/ the sti its fast as hell n he will love it.

i have add tons of **** to my sti. it goes 0-60 in 3.4 sec n runs the 1/4 mile @ 11.2 sec @ 123 mph.

I would recomend that you don't buy either vehicle, high insurance and repair costs, I would get your son either a 2000 or 2001 Honda Accord Coupe or a 2000 or 2001 Acura TSX, both very reliable cars and can be had for the same money.

i would go with the green car. it has a lot of pics. plus cops tend to pick on young adults in sports cars so the green one is not so eye catching.but before i bought the car i would want to see it upclose and test drive it ,maybee have youre machanic check it out first. you never know about a car and the person selling it to you.espeacaily a very clean older car like this.if you start looking around at oldr sports cars very few look this good. i would never buy a car that i couldn't drive first.if you can look at this car upclose check the moldings around the windows,headlight@trim for sighns of paint over spray.just check it out thuroughly before u buy.

I think they are very expensive because they are old cars and you are going to expect problems for the tear and wear. Also they are going to be expensive to insure. Better get a sedan, a Buick or a Mazda, ok, not trendy, but safer, cheaper and more reliable.

Personally these cars are trouble but if you take care of them they won`t be ;; i would first qo check both out ;; never trust an owner who is tryin to sell their car ;; they could be lyin just to qet rid of it ;; i`d qo with the one with less miles ;; but then aqain i`d have to see it`s picture ;; i would say to qo see both the cars ;; pictures online can be decievinq althouqh the one with pictures looks like it`s in qreat condition.

I'd go for the top one, the car seems nicer and plus I believe insurance is more for red cars.

Have someone knowledgeable to look at both of them - at this age it's hardly possible they don't have any problem - they not as reliable as Hondas or Toyotas...
I'd definitely look for something safer for my kid though...it's just me.

Lucky kid to have a rich dad (or mom). A college kid should not have the responsibility of such an exotic car.
