My brother has been in therapy for about 7 years. He's just been diagnosed with Asperger's. This changes EVERYTHING! Seems all the services are for kids. Does anyone know of any Psychiatrists or Psychologists or even Social Workers in the Chicago Area that work with adults with AS?

That is a REAL small speciality! Try www.nami.org for some assistance. You will probably need to talk/email with somebody personally to get valid response. Good luck, and best wishes.

I would not reccommend seeing a psychologist or psychiatrist. They generally do not know jack **** about the disorder.

You may want to consider behavioral therapists - it really depends on WHY he would need to see a therapist.

Finding anyone who handles autism/AS for adults is always hard - people tend to completely forget that all those autistic children eventually turn into adults.

look in the yellowbook.... and call around.. till you find the right therapist... but i suggest that you seek a psychiatrist or a psychologist...
counselors and marriage family therapists are not highly trained when it comes to developmental disorders.

If any of this is available to you or can be afforded, also consider these:

general info: http://www.nas.org.uk/nas/jsp/polopoly.jsp?d=212
addressing:
http://www.connecticutcenterforhealth.com/autism.html#sec7
http://www.drpodell.org/autism_treatments.shtml

I don't have any to refer to you. Your best bet would be to look up several in the area, and call each one if they don't advertise it directly.

Here's a site that lists therapists that can be queried: http://therapists.psychologytoday.com/ppc/prof_search.php?iorb=4764
