acupuncture and herbal remedies are available.
there worth a try, since it seems like the pain meds just aren't cutting it for you anymore.

another suggestion- i've tried this one- is to keep track of when your migraines occur. you might discover that certain foods, stressful situations, or enviromental factors are the source of the problem.

For prevention, propanolol was a good try. It sometimes takes a substantial dose for it to work and that might be worth revisiting. Other alternatives include antidepressants, and the older tricyclics tend to be better for migraine prevention than the newer SSRI's. Of the abortive drugs, you've tried a couple of the triptans, but there are quite a few others, and some people will respond to one when others didn't work. Persistence may pay off. There are some oddball treatments like metoclopramide or prochlorperazine that also will help in some people. It actually sounds like your GP is doing a good job of trying individualized treatments, including your desire for herbals, and I suspect he'll be in a better position to judge what to try next than somebody starting from scratch.

Never take too much medicine, natural or not! My friend became addicted to painkillers that way. Whenever I get migraines I find sleep is the best thing for it. Just lay down where it's nice and quiet (and dark) and relax. I find my migraines are brought on by stress; so try to meditate as your laying down. Try that, and if your migranes keep coming back, ask your doctor, he/she will be able to get you a perscription drug to prevent migraines.

I would have said liquid caps, but you tried them - the other thing
to do is avoid them....
Every person is different, but try this...
One LARGE glass of warm water ( I put a bit of lemon in it ) before
you go to sleep, and one LARGE ( not a "cup", but a big tall glass
about 2 ordinary table cups, ie like a beer mug ) glass of water,
( again I put in a shot of lemon juice ) FIRST thing when you get up.
Sounds dumb and simple, but it seems to ward off migraines
- and, its inexpensive...
There are other things, like getting lots of sleep, and avoiding
paint fumes or other fumes when you sleep, ...

other people I know try to find out what substances they are
sensitive to.. usually an holistic practitioner will help, and after
consultation, there are various natural remedies... but again
it varies from person to person.

Try the water... ps I use filtered water to avoid the chlorine and
flourine and stuff, - ordinary grocery store filter jugs are great
in the fridge.
