Yes I have. Everyone is in one room...pretty large. You have to sign in and go through a metal detector. Sometimes you have to take off your jewelry, your shoes, your belt, whatever makes the alarm sound. Children have to do the same. You are assigned a table and you have to wait for your person to be sent out. When that person comes in, you may touch them at the onset of the visit. A hug, a kiss, a handshake, whatever. There are vending machines in the visitation area and you can purchase snacks for you and/or your person to eat and drink. There is a table between the two of you. There are about 3-4 feet between each visiting party. You can talk and laugh until time is up. Then you can touch again and then you get in line and get signed out. It's very depressing and I don't plan to go through that again. I did it for about a year when my ex was in prison several years ago. He's back in again, but this time, he's on his own! There's not a damn thing sexy about a convict!

Not prison, but I have a sibling who has been in jail for about 8 mos. and I go visit them. It is awkward and sad and you only get to pick up a phone and see them through the glass, so no hugs or anything. Also, it is limited to once a week for a half hour.
