We had them when I was a kid. They were NOT what I would call ultra tolerant of children. They were OK, but did not like kids as well as breeds I have had since.
Meet a few good breeders and visit the dog they have. At least buy from a breeder that socializes the puppies with children to increase the chances of a good outcome. All breeds have the ability to be good or bad with kids. Good breeding and sound temperment will go a long way!!!!!

Playful and cheerful, the Bedlington Terrier is loving with children and fairly friendly with strangers. They are loyal, lively and headstrong. This breed needs to learn to like cats and other household animals when they are young > http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/bedlingtonterrier.htm

Maybe, if you saute them in red wine.
