The abbreviation "P.S." stands for the Latin expression "postscriptum," meaning "after writing." The term refers to an additional text added at the end of a text that has been formally closed, or, more commonly, to a short additional message added to the end of a letter after the closing and signature.

It is correct to refer to a text marked P.S. as a "postscript." (One word.)

It is also correct to preface a second postscript with P.P.S. meaning "post postscriptum," or "after the after-writing." Sounds kind of odd to today's American English users, but that is how the abbreviation has traditionally been used.

P.P.P.S. and so on!

P.S. is a shortened version of post script, which can either be described as a message added to the end of a letter, or additional information that ends up getting added to a manuscript.

Its actually an additional message that forgotten to include in body proper of the letter. That's why it is called a "POSTSCRIPT". Usually located at the end or bottom part of the message or letter. Something important or with relevance with the message written from the first part. Or just another thing that may remind you or related with the topic you have discussed or you are aware with. Hope it helps you!

Post Script it means something added after the close of the writing
(post = after script = writing) you use it if you need to ad something after you have signed it. (this doesn't happen as much now that most letters are typed on computers but when you hand wrote a letter you sure didn't want to rewrite it to ad something after you had signed it.)

They stand for post script, meaning it was something added after the letter was signed.
