I don't know.
What makes words 'bad'?
And what makes it okay for adults to say them, but not kids?
It makes no sense!

I think when they hit a certain age they want to seem grown up and cool and they start. Unfortunately that's what kids hear a lot of adults saying. It's work to remember to do it then, but eventually it becomes a natural part of their language and sometimes it comes out without them even realizing they do it. Of course, there are the people who do it just to be obnoxious. I started when I was around 14 in order to be cool. As an adult I wanted to quit and it was hard because it had become normal conversation for me. I did manage to stop. I've been swear word free for about 20 years now. (-:

Most people swear if they are around ones who swear also,,,if you are not around it then you will find the swearing is not so intense,,then again some will swear because they were raised with the swearing ,,for it was a natural part of their vocabulary.

Well, I would say you are a product of your environment. If you grew up in a household that swears it is pretty hard not to swear. What is more interesting is what is acceptable today versus 40 years ago. And what will be accepted forty years from now versus today?

The English language does not have many words to decribe some things in detail, like Eskimos have 9 different words for "snow", so swearing fills in to an extent.
Some swear words cover at alot of ground. used sparingly, they carry more weight.

Considering that the 'King' of the "King's English" has been dead for almost a century, it might be referred to as the Queen's English, if you were from England.
People swear because they don't read and they don't know any other words than those they listen to on a daily basis.
Expand your mind - read.

Some of the most distinguished, respectable people I know will swear in the appropriate circumstance so yeah, thanks to all these pompous asses who think they are too good to curse.
Swear, but only if you really mean it!
Also, it is an excellent tool for convincing people you mean business. If you are someone who rarely swears and all of a suddent you swear with all your might, they will know you mean it!!

I have found that the number of foul words that one uses is usually inversely proportionate to their IQ levels.
I believe there is an appropriate time for certain expressions, but I don't think that it belongs in everyday conversation. And if someone thinks that it makes them sound cool or mature, they are out to impress people who are not cool nor mature. IMHO.

I don't know. My vocabulary is expansive enough to where I can say anything I want to without swearing. I'm 15 FYI.

It's a way to emotionally vent. Or it is an all too easy way to fill up a sentence with adjectives. However when used sparingly it shows the user is more serious about what he or she is saying, giving it that extra little umph.
