I gained 50 lbs with my last pregnancy. I have managed to lose 30 lbs, but the last 20 seem to be impossible to get rid of!! I am 5'3" and I weigh in at 142 lbs. What is a safe way to boost my metabolism? I do not over eat, and I don't eat a lot of junk food. I am desperate to return to my pre-pregnancy weight. I am still wearing my maternity clothes, and my baby is 18 months old!

Are you exercising? I know that running is one of the fastest ways to lose weight. It is also very hard on your Knees. If you are able to start running or even walking at a fast pace, you will lose some pounds.
Good Luck

Well done for the 30 pounds you've lost.

Metabolism is down to exercise more than anything else and as it sounds like you're eating sensibly then perhaps you could look at doing some regular exercises. Ideally half an hour a day but 20 minutes, 3 times a week is a good starting point.

If possible go swimming as this is the best all round exercise - it tones, builds stamina, strength, improves circulation etc. Failing that, try to get into the habit of taking a brisk walk or cycle ride. In fact, any form of exercise - just don't go too mad until you've got used to it.

Continue to focus on healthy food, but there isn't anything that "boosts" metabolism except certain drugs, and you don't want those. Try to eat smaller portions more frequently, rather than regular large meals. Also, walking, jogging, and swimming are excellent (try to fit in several short sessions during a day, rather than one long one). Just don't try and do too much of it at once.

exercise and water! Actually you need to eat a healthy breakfast...that's like a jump start for the metabolism. Then you need to eat 5 or so small meals throughout the day. You can't lose fat if you aren't exercising. You need to get your heart up to your targeted heart rate for at least 30 mins a day.

Hi
This plan sure helped me lose weight after my first baby so here goes,
If you are serious about losing weight, the calories in the food you eat should be less than the energy you use. You will have to increase your metabolic rate now, and plan your diet carefully.
Formulate your own weight loss plan and you will lose weight faster. More details available at http://tinyurl.com/m7ckx

Eat a lot of fiber, like whole grains, oats, nuts, seeds, beans, fruits and vegetables. Fiber rich foods take longer to absorb into your bloodstream.

Eat some lean protein with every meal, especially breakfast.

Green tea has been shown to boost metabolism.

Exercise regularly.

Start a good exercise program and don't forget to include some weight training. Muscle burns more calories even at rest.

It's a little too late now, but breastfeeding is an awesome way to lose weight, studies show. Otherwise alternate exercise routines, and don't stress yourself out about it, let your body work it's way back naturally.
