oh...dear...god...do i know the answer to this question. Seems be it so, that a psychologist has all the education...the psychiatrist merely dictates medicine and the protocal of which the average Citizen buys in, not taking into consideration his own place in the scheme of things. Believe it or not...the basic difference is in the personality of the administrator from one glorious session to the next. A psycholigist might reccommend the extensive plan of individual attention to a 7 part Basic awareness regime, notably...#1-Good sleep. /#2-Eat something good for you and delicious. /#3-Watch Your Stress Level. #4-Stay Away From Drugs And Alcohol (Wine is Fine 3 Times A Week). #5 Get Rigorous Exercise. #6 Have Some Kind Of Purpose Driven Existence(like small business). Hey....says the psycholigist...Live to your fullest. On the freakin' other hand, the psychiatrist knows only who is feeding his "please take a look at what we have for your consumers all in the name of trips to Europe"...Consider this,I am sick of ten years of Psycho...Propaganda...If you really want to save the people...look into the MOSAIC MODEL OF RECOVERY as first broadcast by MOSAICovery.com somewhere in 07/08.

A psychologist can perform psychological research or run therapy sessions, but he/she does not have a medical degree (MD). Usually, a psychologist has a Ph.D., Psy.D., or Ed. D. in some branch of psychology and is licensed according to the regulations of the state in which they practice.
A psychiatrist is a medical doctor who specializes in psychiatry, like a cardiologist is a medical doctor who specializes in cardiology. As such, psychiatrists can prescribe medication in addition to offering therapy.

Psychologists “are concerned with the study and management of human behavior.” Individuals who refer to themselves as “counsellors” or provide “counselling” are not to be confused with psychologists who offer counselling, psychotherapy or other therapy services.
Psychiatrists are physicians who specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of mental illness and emotional disorders. Psychiatrists attend medical school and receive a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree. Following the completion of this degree, individuals are then required to complete a post-graduate residency-training program with a specialization in psychiatry. Treatment approaches may be more biologically based. Unlike psychologists, psychiatrists are able to prescribe psychotropic medications.
