previously you supply to charity, ask your self how lots funds do you think of fairly reaches the meant clarification for any charity, in spite of everything the administration expenses have been bled off? staring on the present corruption that has been uncovered interior the government with expenditures, yet nevertheless persists, you may relax certain that the leaders of those charities do precisely the comparable. i somewhat do hate the emotional blackmail those charities deliver you, generally depicting some wonderful animal looking wretched and right down to its bones. they'd desire to be prosecuted decrease than the obscene classes act, and for attempting to benefit funds by menaces, i.e. "supply us you funds or the dogs gets it!!!" I even have supported a as quickly as close by dogs rescue middle with the help of giving something extra powerful then chilly annoying funds, my time and capacity for loose, and the eventual adoption of one of the dogs. I by no ability supply to the different charity except that's the RNLI.

It depends on what issues are the most important to you. If, for example, you are really interested in saving wildlife and endangered species, then World Wildlife Fund and Defenders of Wildlife are great ones. However, they are very large organizations, so they have a lot of clout, but don't always do as much as more grassroots organizations. If you are interested in marine life, then one of the best (according to my very biased colleague) is Sea Shepherd. They consistently take action against the cruelties practiced by governments and others on animals. They chased the Japanese whaling ship for days while Greenpeace looked on and documented, and they were very active in demonstrations against Canada and trying to stop the senseless killing of baby harp seals.
If however, your animal preferences lie with domestic animals, then the Humane Society is a good bet, or your local shelter. These places need all the resources they can get in order to help the stray animals that people are just letting go and abusing.
For me, one of my biggest issues is cosmetic testing on animals, because it is senseless and wrong. I therefore support PETA because they are very active in opposing animal testing for cosmetics. However, I don't agree with everything PETA does, and to me they seem to stretch themselves a little thin with all the issues they are promoting. So research them as well, but they may have taken to heart a lot of the issues that you care about.
And trust me, once you join one organization you are guaranteed to get mailing after mailing from other charities. Check them out if you want, or if you are happy with the ones you've joined, keep the free mailing labels and do that small part to help promote animal welfare. Thanks!

Either "Best Friends Sanctuary" in Kanob, Utah or United Animal Nations (EARS) Emergency Animal Rescue Services. EARS will travel to any disaster (i.e. Hurricane Katrina) to rescue the pets affected by the disaster. Both can be found on-line.

BIG thumbs down to anyone who supports PETA and their extremist terrorist acitivities. This is not the forum for airing any more than that.
The single best and worthwhile animal charity in the world is probably Heifer Project International, which assists people in low income and poverty stricken areas by supporting sustainable animal care and livestock small enterprise. Their transparency, dedication, goals, and mission are all incredible. I have personally worked with them as a volunteer, and have been extremely impressed by the dedication of their people and the thought and research that goes into their actions. They focus on the root causes of poverty, and use people's love of and connection to animals to end hunger and make communities self-reliant.

We donate to our local animal shelter. Sometimes the little local ones get overlooked. I know they were really suffering last winter because the people who normally did donate to them were donating to the animal rescue efforts from the hurricanes. Our shelter was taking in Katrina and Rita dogs and cats and getting less help than usual. I'm not saying that it wasn't good to donate to the hurricane rescue efforts, I'd donate to everything if I had the means to do so. I love animals dearly. I just think if I had to choose one, I'd choose my local one.

Your local no-kill animal shelter. In some cases you don;t even have to give money. Some need old blankets, new dog toys, pet food, etc.
