Sounds like a lymph node. Swollen lymph nodes are very common in kids. However, it can mean infinite things. Most of the time it is nothing more than an infection. But, golf ball size it pretty big. If your 2 Dr.s do not seem to know what is going on, Go to a third or forth.

not to scare you, but swollen lymph nodes of adults do not typically swell to the size of a golf ball- that's extremely large! it might be a congenital tumor- benign or malignant, it isn't good. in any case, you need to communicate with the doctors- take your child for all radiological exams and laboratory tests that they ask you to take the child to. talk with them- ask them what they think it could be and what treatment options should be considered. if they do not give you straightforward answers, seek another health care professional, possibly a pediatric oncologist.

if your child recieves the proper care, there is a good chance that your child will be able to lead a healthy, normal life.

whatever you do, do it now! your child's health is of the utmost importance.

please let me know how things go

What do you mean by 'between two doctors'? Do you mean you don't have a family doctor right now, or do you mean that two doctors you've taken the baby to, can't figure out what it is?

If I were you and this knot is raising, I'd take him/her to urgent care. If you're afraid of taking the baby in due to the bill, take him/her to an emergency room at a hospital because they have programs that discount your bill, and let you pay in installments.

Where abouts behind the ear? It could be swollen lymph nodes. Either way...that could be bad or nothing. Golf size would definately have me worried if it were my child.

.Why are you on here and not taking the child to a doctor? I don't mean to sound rude but if I were that concerned that's what I would do. It sounds like it could be a swollen lymph node

Swollen Lymph node? If it hurts, it is probably just an infection. If not, that's bad. That usually means cancer, but I don't know about in babies.

What do you mean two doctors are getting scared?

If they can't tell you what's wrong with your son, why would you think anyone here would be able to tell you?

Have you been to 2 docs because they don't know what it is or is it because they are 2 different typs of docs and the one referred you to the other. If they don't know what it is, they should be running tests.
