Do you know any other zen sayings? eg. I have not seen any proof of tomorrow all day.

I'd like to think it's along the lines of somethink like:
Oog (a caveman) has two sharp knives and a dull spear, and Urg (another caveman) has two sharp spears and a dull knife. So the first trade was invented. Everybody's happy. As for your Zen phrase, it makes no sense; neither does "What is the sound of one hand clapping?" You can't take what the other doesn't have. If you give the bowl, then you end up taking it back. Pretty lame circular logic if you ask me.

It means that God helps only those who help themselves.
I suggest you would meditate on this rather than seeking more Zen sayings.
Zen people take years to meditate on a phrase in the the Bible, and they understand it not. That phrase is: FIAT VOLUNTUS TUA.
You leave the greatest treasure in the Bible to look for crude metals of men.

it could be about life and how some days are better ( more than one bowl) while other days are crapy (when your down u get kicked...no bowl get more taken away)...does this sound right?
