not enough to get into it with iran... i heard that the draft will most difinitely go into effect if we go to war with iran. .. a most likely scenario with an attack on iran would be they would pour 100,000+ troops over the border into iraq to engage and take out as many US troops as possible as well as incite and organize shiite elements already in iraq ... figure 20,000+ US troops dead in the first day or two of an attack on iran and the draft implemented.

The actual number is classified, OBVIOUSLY. If anyone puts on line what they claim is the true number they are either lying or violating COMSEC and national security laws and should be arrested.
Period.

The numbers quoted on TV news stations and newspapers are the unclassified, ballpark number of troops in the theaters of operation.

CFC-A is the strategic headquarters in Afghanistan and is commanded by Lt. Gen. Karl Eikenberry.



Our mission:

Combined Forces Command Afghanistan conducts full spectrum operations throughout the combined joint operations area to defeat Al Qaeda and associated movements, establish an enduring Afghan security structure and reshape its posture for the Long War in order to set the conditions for long-term stability in Afghanistan.



Combined Joint Task Force-76

Is a subordinate unit of CFC-A. It is the operational headquarters in Afghanistan and is commanded by Maj. Gen. Benjamin Freakley of the Southern European Task Force at Bagram Airfield. CJTF-76 is broken down into six major task forces:



Combined Task Force Bayonet

Covers the south and southeast of Afghanistan and is responsible for provincial reconstruction teams in Kandahar, Lashkar Gah, Qalat and Tarin Kowt.



Combined Task Force Devil

Covers the central and eastern region of the country and is responsible for provincial reconstruction teams in Asadabad, Bamian, Gardez, Ghazni, Jalalabad, Khowst, Parwan, Mehtar Lam, and Sharona.



Combined Joint Special Operations Task Force

Covers special operations missions across the country.



Task Force Griffin

Responsible for aviation coverage of the entire country including close air support, reconnaissance and logistics.



Combined Task Force Sword

Oversees engineer operations, including coalition engineers from South Korea, Poland and Slovakia, at Bagram Airfield, Kandahar Airfield, the provincial reconstruction teams and forward operating bases throughout the country.

Iraq is divided into six major areas of responsibility maintained by forces from 27 countries. Below are the units that cover these areas. When available a link has been provided to the unit's homepage on the Internet.

Multi-National Security Transition Command - Iraq
MNSTC-I, commonly called "min-sticky", is responsible for organizing, training, equipping and mentoring Iraqi security forces throughout the country.

Gulf Region Division, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers
The Gulf Region Division is responsible for helping the Iraqi government rebuild the country's infrastructure.

Multi-National Corps - Iraq
This is the Tactical Unit responsible for command and control of Operations in Iraq. Currently MNC-I is headquartered by the U.S. 5th Army Corps forward deployed to Camp Victory, Baghdad. The following units report to MNC-Iraq

* Multi-National Division - Baghdad
MND-Baghdad is also known as Task Force Baghdad. Its major area of responsibility is the city of Baghdad. MND-Baghdad is headquartered by the 4th Infantry Division from Fort Hood, Texas.

* Multi-National Division - North
MND-North Central is also known as Task Force Band of Brothers. Responsible for an Area including the cities of Balad, Kirkuk, Tikrit, Mosul, and Samarra, MND-NC is headquartered by the U.S. 101st Airborne Division from Fort Campbell, KY.

* Multi-National Force - West
MNF-W is headquartered by the U.S. I Marine Expeditionary Force. Their Area of Operations include the cities of Ar Ramadi and Fallujah.

* Multi-National Division - Central South
MND-CS covers an area that includes the cities of Al Kut, Al, Hillah, and Karbala. The division is headquartered by the Polish Military.

* Multi-National Division - South East
MND-SE operates in the southern most part of the countries including the cities of Basrah, An Nasiriyah, Al Amarah. The division is headquartered by elements of the British and Australian militaries.

* Logistical Support Area Anaconda
LSA Anaconda is currently run by the U.S. 1st Corps Support Command. 1st COSCOM is responsiblefor providing Logistic Support throughout the Theater.
